Winnie Mandela se fait connaitre par la pratique du necklacing sur les noirs qui collaborent avec les blancs. En 1986, Winnie a déclaré: “Avec nos boîtes d'allumettes et nos colliers, nous libérerons ce pays”. Cette pratique consiste à bruler un individu en lui mettant un pneu imbibé d'essence autour du cou, et en y mettant le feu.
