in the winter, I work in a small store alone, making little Christmas trees for all the orders that come in. I like to imagine myself in the thick of a horrible, messy head cold, but I work anyway because the trees sell so fast and I have to keep up with the demand. I always lose my winter gloves, and I really only wear a coat, so on top of being sick Iām just absolutely freezing and itās the most miserable experience of my life. Just sniffling and sneezing alone, and Iād probably cry too, but in the midst of it all, an angel appears in the form of a customer, and theyāre like me, theyāre infatuated with sneezing and illness, and when they see me in my wretched state, they fall almost instantly for me. They are apprehensive about showing their feelings, because weāre only strangers to each other, but they keep me company and give me tissues to blow my nose and wipe away the tears, and we just sit and talk for hours. By the end of the day, weāre snuggled up close on the couch (yeah thereās just a couch here), my face against theirs, and they give me kisses and whisper sweet nothings in my ear, my hands in theirs being warmed up by their gloves, or maybe Iām laying my head on their chest. And I realize right then and there that Iāve found my soulmate, the one I want to spend the rest of my life with, and I couldnāt be happier. Something like that could never happen to me, but if I could, just for one minute believe it could come true, itād make me the happiest person in the world.
