This book captures the horror and true terror of the Holocaust. Samuel Willenberg talks all about his experience during and after escaping the Treblinka death camp. Reading it was quite difficult due to the horrific imagery that went through my mind while reading. There is no happy ending in this book and it ends really awkwardly. To me this meant that is was to show that this is real life and not a regular story.
Just reading this book this year made me realize how important it is too continue reading books. It has been a while since a book has truly captured my attention. Trevor’s story should be read to high school teenagers. This book is unlike anything I have read in quite some time.
Let me tell you something: from then until I left that prison, in every free moment I had, if I was not reading in the library, I was reading on my bunk.

Malcolm X changed his life around while in prison. His story is truly inspiring to listen to and hearing how he taught himself to read was something truly fascinating to read about.
One of the first books I read growing up that talked about serious problems happening in the world. It’s 1960, and a judge orders Ruby to attend first grade at William Frantz Elementary,which was a whites only school. Rudy faced challenges during a difficult time in the world.
Each panel, complete with picture, dialogue and narrative was a three-dimensional paragraph.

This quote really stuck out to me when reading “Superman and Me”. As I would look through comics, I would always look at the drawings and make my own stories out of it.

Spider-Man was a big deal for me as a kid. I read some of his earliest comics and loved watching the movie and cartoon show. Spider-Man taught me that great power comes with great responsibility.
Harry Potter is a series that is truly special to me. I grew up with this story and have many memories of watching the movies many times. I fell in love with the world, magic and characters. When seeing the last movie, I knew I was ending a wonderful journey that I was happy to be a apart of and will never forget.
My introduction to literacy started with my grandma reading me books like this one. I have fond memories of her reading to me and enjoying the stories.
