I never quite understood what Mother Superion did to Shannon in ep 2x06 to incapacitate her. Wouldn't a halo blast to the chest just stop someone's heart? Or cause cardiac arrest?

And viceversa, wouldn't you be able to use the halo blast as a defibrillator to restart a heart? Or maybe like a very intense more efficient CPR since it's not actually an electrical current (??) idk how that works
