so now seems as good a time as any to talk about the almighty trope fest that is carmita in the x men au

carmen is a former brainwashed villain lackey, anita is maybe a teacher at the school who no-one is sure whether or not she’s a supervillain because she’s VERY outspoken abt mutant rights/hates humans a lot/is generally magnetoish, but hangs around the school to be aggressively protective of her friends/family/fellow mutants. her girlfroind is literally also an ex villain and neither of them talk much to anyone they don’t know well because they’re basically waiting for/expecting everything to go tits up and live in a constant state of “we’re all doomed, the end is nigh”, so basically not that different from canon but even more so. they don’t usually mention it out of courtesy/not wanting to freak the kiddies out. hence just being quiet/bit scary.

carmen may or may not have wings, haven’t decided, her powers have been messed with by the villain she was cavorting around with in the past but they’re working on getting them back. at present she can make sort of solid blobs of dark purplish energy that can explode or be manipulated around her. andy didn’t know her mom & her mom’s girlfriend were mutants until after her own powers started manifesting which has put carmen even more on the edge than before. Anita is definitely on the side of the good guys, even if she doesn’t believe in their cause, but carmen’s alignment seems essentially to be “Anita”
