“You needed a lighter so I recommended a different light — a flashlight.”
“What- really? I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that and give you another chance to make a better joke. Ready, set...go.”

Clarice didn’t mind all the questions. She never really had anyone bewildered by her ‘culture’ before. The energy Carmen was giving off was contagious and better than any buzz she’d get from alcohol. “I’m indifferent to that whole thing. I know some vampires and werewolves who are more old school and sworn enemies but most of the ones I meet aren’t half bad. The hunters are the ones you need to look out for. They tend to hate you no matter who you are or what you did or didn’t do. Which is why I can’t go to that bar. No supernaturals allowed unless you have a death wish.”
Carmen looked in bewilderment at Clarice, yet again. How was this red-haired woman vampire capable of surprising her more with each word that came out of her mouth? She supposed it was for the best that she know, even if it would take her months to wrap her mind around the idea that supernatural beings really did exist. Taking another deep breath to steady her mind, she wrinkled her forehead slightly and then caught herself and stopped, no need for anymore premature wrinkles. “Hunters? Wha- you mean as in like the tv show Supernatural type of hunters? Are they on a mission to kill you guys or what?”, she asked in further fascination.
djohariah-almighty:
“Absolutely agreed!” She grins and turns to her bag, looking through it. “Let’s see. I’ve got Popov, but you seem a little fancy for that. How about we go get something good and I introduce you to my fireworks mortar at my girlfriend’s house?”
Carmen grins back, the girl’s enthusiasm is contagious. Then nodding her head in agreement, she replies, “Okay, you got yourself a deal. Lead the way girl.” She doesn’t realize what she’s getting herself into but she figures it’s better then staying at home and moping around.
Movie Night- Rodrick & Carmen
faerodrick:
He nods. “Yeah, I probably could. I’ve been around long enough that I know what to look for. And yeah some humans just have a knack for being drawn into this shit. If you’re one of them, believe me, I’m gonna try to make sure you’re safe because there are some real assholes out there.” As an example, him, but he doesn’t usually count himself because he targets pedophiles, not women who have done nothing more evil than preferring high quality things.
He gives her The Soulful Gaze, to make sure she knows he’s 100% serious.
Carmen feels her temperature rising and her face growing hot as she blushes in response to Rodrick’s comment about keeping her safe. Usually, in the past mostly, she would have made a quick response telling the other person to butt out and making sure he knew she could damn well keep herself safe but Rodrick seemed like a thoroughly genuine person, not many people like that left on the earth Carmen noted to herself. As she looks back up at him, recovered from her blush by now, she gives him one very genuine word, “Thanks.”
Serving Drinks- Damien & Carmen
damien-hunt:
“Not everyone love, some people are just fine staying on the sidelines to observe and–” he made a motion towards the growing tension building from a couple of seats away from them when she decided to blatantly tell them off, “–wait for things to unravel.”
“Oh have they now? If I stay just a little longer then things should progress,” he mused, “It’s Damien, though with plenty of names and faces coming in and out, you’ll forget mine soon enough.”
This guy just kept toying with Carmen and she knew it. Did he not have anything better to do then come to this shitty little bar and observe? It seemed like a boring way to pass the time if she was being honest with herself but who was she to judge? And once again her curiosity got the better of her and she asked the one question she knew she was going to regret, “Okay, Damien- and how exactly do you know that if you stay just a little longer things will progress? What are you, psychic?”. She looked at the man with doubt and slight curiosity peeking from behind her gaze.

“When they come to lock you up, which they will, we’ll see how that works out for you, miss grown up.”
“Well, I like to live dangerously so I guess I’ll take my chances, mister-a-little-too-uptight.”
bloodxspice:
Clarice could tell it was a lot to take it and she was glad when their food and drinks finally arrived. She grabbed the bloody mary and took a large gulp of it, realizing it was going to be a looong night. “I’m not joking,” she said shaking her head. “That guy over there,” she said motioning to some guy more towards the back. “Pretty sure he’s a werewolf. They always smell like wet dog to me and I have a pretty keen sense of smell.”
Carmen felt like her eyes would pop out of her eye sockets from all this new information that she was receiving from the red-haired vampire sitting in front of her. Hearing the word werewolf, she shook her head in bewilderment for the millionth time that night and after Clarice finished talking, added, “Wow, really? So you guys are natural enemies and all that then? Like in the books and stuff?”. It didn’t occur to Carmen that she might be annoying the hell out of Clarice because everything was just so extremely interesting and new to her.
laurentxbernard:
“It kills me that the joke wasn’t caught on.”
“Sorry, I guess I’m kind a stick-in-the-mud at the present moment. Mind explaining it to me?”.
Serving Drinks- Damien & Carmen
damien-hunt:
“No story, just here for drinks,” Damien deflected, “besides, I don’t wanna bore you with such mediocrity. After all, Bloodhound caters to the lowest of the low, as you put it.”
Damien was nursing his drink when the men who had been trying to get Carmen’s attention got fed up and got out of their chairs, one man snapping at the bartender for deliberately ignoring other customers.
‘You can’t just serve the ones in fancy suits, we’re paying here too!’
“Your patrons await,” he said, amused at the men’s reaction.
Carmen rolled her eyes at his well thought out response and added, “Fine, suit yourself. I thought everyone enjoyed talking about themselves but I suppose that’s for the best, I hate being bored anyways.”
At the rude remark from the drunken bastards, Carmen replied just as rudely, “Paying isn’t tipping. For all the trouble you guys have been, twenty percent should be the minimum you should be tipping me, ten percent just doesn’t cut it or get you my attention.”
And with that she kept right on ignoring them, returning her attention back to the stranger, “Truthfully, they’ve been kicked out of here twice in the past week and they still keep coming back. What’s your name anyways?”.
Movie Night- Rodrick & Carmen
faerodrick:
“It’s possible? I mean, not knowing the guy it’s hard for me to say, but it’s also possible he’s just a human who gets sucked into supernatural shit, which happens. And yeah, there’s other stuff besides vampires. I’m something called an imp, for example.”
Carmen takes another sip of her champagne as she tries to come to terms with everything that she’d found out since coming to Red Creek. She takes a deep breath and looking Rodrick in the eyes, replies, “Woah, really? Maybe I can introduce you to him sometime and you can tell me what you think, because I’m not sure he’d actually tell me if I asked.” She looks down as what he says resonates really strongly with her, “Yeah, that human who gets sucked into supernatural shit sounds oddly familiar. Must have been what sucked me into this place to begin with and I didn’t even know it.”
djohariah-almighty:
“Yes!!!” She exclaims, and I assure you, all three exclamation points there are justified, such is her excitement. She also laughs a lot at the pun and is delighted by it. “Ohhh my god. Me too. There is honestly nothing better than a nice cross-fade and illegal fireworks. Except for getting fucked by a really cute girl, maybe.”
Carmen’s eyes widen slightly at her last comment of sleeping with a cute girl but she composes herself quickly and smiles at the overly excited and energetic girl. She’s experimented in school with her own sex but quickly realized that it was not for her. Nodding, she replies, “You’re right, not much is better then sex, I gotta hand it to you- you got a point there.”

Her rotten attitude was one he had expected. Malachi didn’t know much about Carmen, but he knew enough to tell that she wasn’t a people person. And that was fine by him because he wasn’t one either. He casually shrugged at her words, as if to advertise his complete lack of interest in the situation. His air was of one who had far more important things to do, and would prefer to be doing them. He picked a loose hair from his sleeve, so dark that it seemed engulfed by the black fabric, and carefully brushed it away. He was caught between amusement and disgust.
❝I never take it personally.❞ Not because it was a personal thing but because he didn’t exactly care if he was well liked or not. Ok, maybe somewhere deep down he did but he found it easier to play the villain and be hated than the alternative. Better to put up walls and keep people at bay than let them in and give them opportunity to hurt him. He made that mistake before and paid it in more than just blood. He took another drink of the beer and watched as she returned to her cleaning. How tedious.
❝There must be someone you like. A boy? Girl? Do tell.❞ He sighed and jumped off the counter, holding the cold beer bottle in one hand. ❝Actually, don’t … bet I can take a guess.❞ Malachi walked over to where she was, invading her personal space. ❝There was someone you cared for and they broke your fragile little heart. Am I close?❞
Carmen scoffed at Malachi’s pondering, mostly because he very vaguely reminded her of herself, a negative person through and through. Looking over at him briefly, she replied, “Good because it seems most people do take it very personally and I can’t handle the hurt feelings if you know what I mean.” Carmen knew she was cold and even a bitch on some occasions which is probably why she’d never been able to handle emotions, at least not after Dominic broke her heart.
She listened to him and his seemingly never-ending rant until she looked up from her task and was taken aback that he was now standing much closer to her than before. Putting the rag down, she moved over to where the broom was standing and started to sweep the floors before replying incredulously, “My fragile heart? Hardly, I’m as rotten as they come if you must know.” She didn’t give him any kind of indication about whether he was correct or not, preferring to keep him guessing.
Bars like these had their benefits. For instance, These were usually the sort of places most people avoided. Nobody with anything good planned visit these place unless they wanted to get completely wasted, get into a fight, or have a drunk hook up. It was the type of place where people got lost or, better yet, hurt. Malachi found that out soon enough, mainly because he was the one doing a lot of the hurting. The air was hot, humid, and musky with the odious fragrance of stagnant sweat; drunkards abound in every chair, girls decorating laps. Not exactly the place for the faint hearted.
Malachi ran his finger absentmindedly across the assortment of rings on his left hand as he watched humans parade past him. The music was pounding, deafening his eardrums with that infernal beat. It filled him with its sound, hammering out his bones. It’s the most fulfilled he has felt in a while. He waited, watching the dance floor from behind the bar. He saw many of his own blending with a collection of men and women. Humans, he thought with disgust, scoffing at their attempts of lost identities and stolen memories. What a worthless bunch and yet, he found himself lusting after such creatures with unmatched passion.
Speaking of delicious humans, he was working with Carmen tonight. Wasn’t long before the place was left deserted, thanks to that curfew that was put in place and they were left alone to clean up. Instead of doing what he was supposed to do, Malachi grabbed a cold beer from the fridge and popped it open then jumped on the counter, watching Carmen from afar. ❝You don’t like me much, do you sweetheart?❞
@carmenexposito
Carmen was pretty fed up with life lately. First there was the whole Dominic situation, in which she desperately wanted him back all over again. What was wrong with her? She was a strong woman, so why was she falling in love with him all over again? He’s hurt her once before, what’s to say he wouldn’t do it again? Carmen was in a battle with herself and her heart was winning over her head at the moment.
And then there was her crappy gig at The Bloodhound Bar, not that she wasn’t good at what she did, it just seemed to her that the clientele got trashier every single day. Of course, that didn’t stop her from dressing provocatively since the tips were still coming in and she liked shopping in her spare time.
Another night and again she was working with a man she didn’t particularly fancy or even like all that much. He just seemed like the usual jerk to her, the type of guy she was getting so sick of since coming to Red Creek in the first place. Carmen grew annoyed as she realized that she was going to have to clean this place up by herself since Malachi was no help. At his question, she looked up from the table that she was wiping down and looked at him in mild annoyance, “I don’t like most people, so don’t take it personally.” After that was said, she went right back to wiping her table.
Serving Drinks- Damien & Carmen
damien-hunt:
“How utterly horrific,” Damien replied as his eyes moved from the men a couple of seats away from him to the disgruntled bartender. His tone lacked the sympathy that he offered, he wasn’t a fan of damsels in distress; Red Creek posed a threat to anyone who was weak and if she chose to be here then he knew that she was more than capable to defend herself.
Nodding in agreement Carmen replied, “Yeah, tell me about it. It seems Bloodhound Bar caters to the lowest of the low.” This man seemed peculiar and strange in a way she couldn’t quite put her finger on so she decided to just go ahead and ask him something, “So, what’s your story stranger?”.

Clarice laughed, “not just vampires. There are werewolves, witches, imps, ghosts, banshees, and all kinds of other weird things. Though I haven’t really seen a lot of them yet myself,” she added thoughtfully. “Well for starters, vampires aren’t entirely like the ones in movies. I have a reflection for example. And garlic does nothing but smell bad.”
Carmen’s eyes widened even more, if that was physically possible, and she asked in bewilderment, “What? How? Seriously? Are you screwing with me right now? But how?”. There were even more questions in her head but she thought she’d stop at those for now. She felt like her mind was getting a big overwhelmed and she needed a moment to process everything.
“Well, I know what my excuse is for being out here this late; what’s yours?”
“Who said I need one? I’m a grown-ass woman, I can do whatever I feel like. Thank you very much.”
laurentxbernard:
“I’d be mindful with the smoking. Some people might not tolerate that or have issues that could mess with their breathing, so choose a different lighter, preferably a flashlight — got a couple of brands that work pretty damn well.”
“Wait- how can you use a flashlight as a lighter? I’m confused.”
