Long Time no See!

Hey everyone, i’m here just so you people know that i still exist. And i just wanna go straight to the point: I haven’t touched this game since the last post.

The reason? I kinda lost all motivation to keep on going with that game. I still have the .gmx file around, catching dust in my hard drive. However, i’ve been still goofing around in Game Maker, finished a couple games, tho they’re mostly intended for some of my closest friends.

I just took a huge break from everything, really. Been going through a lot of problems recently, but i’ve been recovering from all that since.

TL;DR: I’m so sorry i have let you down on updates, i just didn't feel like making anything for a while.

I‘ve been experimenting with clutter and environment objects, as well as nerfing the defense system.

This is the weirdest looking place i’ve made in this game. I want to have an insect-themed zone for me to play around with :P

The Magic User’s second special attack summons a flurry of projectiles.

The past days have been a weird mix of laziness and homework, but i could still sneak in a couple of maps and a halloween-themed accessory!

The ranger’s second special attack shoots an arrow that moves towards the mouse’s position. It fades away after a certain amount of time has passed.

The one on the left shows a circle attack that affects all enemies on a tiny radius.

The one on the right shows a sword that orbits around the player, that deals ridiculous amounts of damage and maybe will end up nerfed.

more HUD updates, i ditched the old, lame rage/focus/magic systems and made something else with them.

That new little boy at the side of the main attacks is a special attack. Right now the warrior has special attacks. (only that one i haven’t had the time to actually make more)

I’ll be honest i’m pretty happy with my HUD design.

Here’s a couple of new screenshots. Added an accessory equipment slot, and cleaned up the HUD.

Its been a long week, but i was able to work a bit on my game. This is an entrance to a dungeon. 

Now i’ll be off making some more armor parts. Sorry for the short post, i’m kinda running low on time here :P.

Questing System Finished!

Hello everyone! i’m back with a video and with a couple things to say.

So, if you saw the video, you saw a simple "Kill this” quest. It was kind of fun making the code for the objects and making the boss itself (It was supposed to have an attack where the boar tried to charge towards you, and it kinda worked, but it was just.... Spaghetti (?)) It was simple enough, but with a couple hurdles along the way.

The other thing i wanted to tell you about was that i’m going back to school! i’m pretty excited to go back with my friends and all, but i’m gonna miss my bed and computer :/, so progress for the game will slow down to a crawl i’m sorry to say. But i’ll try my best to not forget about this project! This game is kinda just  hobby for me, but its coming along pretty nicely!

And that’s all i wanted to say! i’ll try to hop back in with new things to see just for you. :P

I changed the health bar completely. Last one was too draw-intensive and i started to suspect that it had an impact on performance. And it was uselessly large, too.

As you can see, i made the location name appear when you enter a zone. Made this cause i was bored, but hey looks good enough

(I spent an exorbitant amount of time mapping the Battle Plateau; literally an entire day on the thing and just finished it yesterday night.)

Oboarkill 2 i guess

Another break from maps, now working on bosses. I had a bit of fun making that health bar :P (yes i know, the health potion is still not centered and its not even funny at this point).

Was getting bored of making maps so i decided to work a bit on game performance. (Game’s drawing so many things its actually dipping to like 14 fps) So i’m deactivating instances outside the view, which is kind of a downgrade, but its necessary at this point.

Also, enemy names. They’re a thing now

Edit: Oh and i forgot to add, you can now hide the debuff bar by pressing X

A little Intermission.

I’ve been tinkering with the debuff system, and now it shows actual seconds instead of frames. Good job, me!.

Right now i feel like making some maps, and actually start working on the story. And that will take me a little longer than usual. (especially the maps, i spend way too much time on those) So, if you don’t see any updates on here, now you know why.

I’ve been working on debuffs. I ran straight into that overleveled orc just to show you one of em :P. (The numbers at the side of the icons is the time left until the debuff wears off in frames. Pretty crude, but i can easily change it into actual seconds.)

Bleeding makes you lose 10 health points every second (60 frames, in the case of the current timer)

Frozen keeps you from moving and attacking.

Spooked halves your attack.

Tired halves your defense. (Can only be cured by sleeping in an Inn)

Sickness keeps you from drinking potions. (I made this one cause you could chug 7 potions at the same time. I don’t want that).

I looked back at the last post and i realized that’s WAY more space that i needed. That was funny.

Ended up making it a bit smaller.
