there was a genuine enjoyment when it came out for a lot of people, and it really still felt like it was a time on the internet when we could all just unironically enjoy some good new horror, which! thankfully, horror is a whole genre continues to always being new and enjoyable, thankfully.

but like.

I remember sitting in a college dorm room watching marble hornets, which friends were showing me. I remember actually playing the game, it was actually accessible enough for me to do that with the kind of horror it was! in addition to all of the YouTube videos and like let's play stuff that went around it.

before its inevitable apex and collapse, it was a really enjoyable thing to partake in culturally. I think a lot of our jadedness with it has come with its memetic overuse, but

there's still good slenderman art that I will run across that just sends my heart to that same furtively fearful place I once enjoyed
