The Day My Parrot Bebop crashed!
As I mentioned in my previous post, our trip to Macgalliard Falls, Valdese, NC had a less than favorable end. While trying to get some nice footage of the #ParrotBebop cresting the top of the waterfall, I clipped a tree limb and my quad dropped like a rock. I was able to save the #ParrotBebop from the creek, but unfortnately it looks like my main board is toast. I have plans to fix it, as I’ve found several places for replacement boards. So hopefully, the Bebop will fly again soon. But in the meantime, have a good laugh at this video of the crash in a first person view. Enjoy!
Macgalliard Falls, Valdese, NC
About a month ago we discovered a local spot that turned out to be a hidden gem. I’ve lived within half an hour to 45 minutes of this location all my life and had no clue it even existed. This visit didn’t end so well, as I had an unfortunate run in with a small tree limb which caused my #ParrotBebop to crash atop the falls. Fortunately I was able to recover the drone and save the footage. The remaining issues with the #Bebop.. well that’s for another post. So in the meantime, enjoy the footage we “rescued” from my poor, downed Parrot Bebop.

I've been spending some time playing with my #EachineE011 quadcopter over the last several weeks. A couple weeks ago I took a few minutes to flash my #EachineE011 with #Silverware. And wow! This little drone turned into an absolute beast! This is a great little #quad and it makes getting into the #TinyWhoop game super fun and super cheap when compared to some of the other options out there.

Last weekend (Sept 30th) we ventured out to South Mountain State Parknin beautiful Burke County, NC. As this is a State Park, no drones are allowed. So we went for a hike up to High Shoals Waterfall. The hike was intense, especially the higher up the mountain we climbed. But the view once we were there, was absolutely amazing! If you are ever near Morganton, NC. I highly recommend you drive a little ways out into the country and checkout this park. The High Shoals Waterfall trail was just one of a handful of trails that wind through the park. Highly recommended!

“The first time I ever saw a drone, I knew that I wanted to have one,” says Renee Lusano (@wrenees), who uses her drone to photograph vast landscapes. “Drones really appeal to me because they’re a fun toy, but also a photographic tool. And as I started to travel more, I thought a drone would be a great way to experience, capture and photograph more on each of my trips.”
A freelance designer based in Los Angeles, Renee takes advantage of her flexible schedule to travel the world, visiting far-flung places like Antarctica, Easter Island and Siberia with her friends (and sometimes with a hot dog costume). “I don’t enjoy having a routine,” she says. “The days and weeks are more memorable when I’m having new experiences.” Renee began creating @dronies — selfies with a drone — that “first show a somewhat mundane photo of myself, and then as the drone flies up, it reveals that I’m in some expansive and incredibly beautiful place. Soon, you don’t even see me — it becomes not about the selfie, but about the scale of the environment I’m in.”
