Maria Theresa of Austria died on this day, November 29th, 1780. She had been in poor health for several years and took a chill several days before her death. On the night of the 29th, she told her distraught family, who urged her to sleep:
âWhy do you want me to sleep when at any moment I could be called before my judge? I am afraid to sleep, I do not want to be taken by surprise. I want to see death coming.â

Painted in the year of her death, Charlotte is shown wearing the Star of St Catherine of Russia and her âRussianâ dress (now in the Museum of London). The portfolio under her arm probably refers to her accomplishments as an amateur artist.

English historians should get over themselves. We should expect 100% accuracy from docs not movies. If anything this movie will make people look for the real Napoléon. It's not that difficult.
