A person you know can disappear right before your eyes. You used to know them, but with time, things change as do they into someone you hardly recognise. You keep them in your life because you remember a past version of someone who made you happy. And possibly even loved you. It's heart shattering when you realise now they only bring you tears and suffering.
jokes to make after failure that arenāt self-deprecating:
Iām the best to ever do it
Nobody saw that (best if said loudly)
No oneās ever done it like me
I could be President/they should make me President
Behold, a mere fraction of my power!
The public wants to be me soooooo bad
Iām an expert in (thing you just failed at)
How could this have happened to godās favorite princess?
Nothing ibuprofen and a glass of water cant fix
Iām being sabotaged
So I think Iām gonna need help with rent. I just got out of the hospital after having pancreatitis and Iām still healing, just at home.
Something else is wrong, though, and no one really knows what it is. Iāve lost the majority of the mobility and strength in my hands and arms. I have about a thousand different appointments coming up to figure out whatās going on with me but for the time being, with having so little arm strength, I canāt DoorDash. I canāt lift up food or groceries and Iām also kinda scared to drive with my hands like this.
I have no other way of making money and Iām really stressed about my health right now.
The court filing date for eviction is the 23rd. I still owe about $800.
Any sort of assistance is greatly appreciated.

So it would appear to be an MS flare up symptom, the thing with my arms.
"tumblr's the only social media without algorithms!" "you can still be anonymous on tumblr!" "tumblr's so nice because you don't have to show your face!" WRONG tumblr is special because you can have 3000 followers and still get an average of seven likes a post. i'm doing stand up comedy at a packed venue and one person is laughing
I can't articulate how utterly inhumane it is that we've not only normalized, but valorized, sleep deprivation. We treat it like an achievement.
Sleep deprivation increases your risk for a myriad of serious illnesses like heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.
And that's just to name a few.
Some of the most important cellular work we do all day happens while we're sleeping. When we don't get enough quality sleep and rest, our cells literally can't effectively repair themselves.
It literally damages every system in our bodies.
Capitalism lies.
Getting enough sleep is actually one of the most meaningfully "productive" things we can do.

Sylvia Plath, aged 26, NOTES ON INTERVIEWS WITH RB, from "The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath" (dated December 12, 1958); ["RB" - Dr. Ruth Beuscher, her psychiatrist]
I donāt know how to embed a video on here, but this quote so poetically explained a concept I couldnāt put into words.
One fine spring day in Kyoto.
J. R. R. Tolkien, undisputedly a most fluent speaker of this language, was criticized in his day for indulging his juvenile whim of writing fantasy, which was then consideredāas it still is in many quartersā an inferior form of literature and disdained as mere āescapism.ā āOf course it is escapist,ā he cried. āThat is its glory! When a soldier is a prisoner of war it is his duty to escapeāand take as many with him as he can.ā He went on to explain, āThe moneylenders, the knownothings, the authoritarians have us all in prison; if we value the freedom of the mind and soul, if weāre partisans of liberty, then itās our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as possible."
Stephen R. Lawhead
"I have claimed that Escape is one of the main functions of fairy-stories, and since I do not disapprove of them, it is plain that I do not accept the tone of scorn or pity with which 'Escape' is now so often used. Why should a man be scorned if, finding himself in prison, he tries to get out and go home? Or if he cannot do so, he thinks and talks about other topics than jailers and prison-walls?"
-J.R.R. Tolkien
"Hence the uneasiness which they arouse in those who, for whatever reason, wish to keep us wholly imprisoned in the immediate conflict. That perhaps is why people are so ready with the charge of "escape." I never fully understood it till my friend Professor Tolkien asked me the very simple question, "What class of men would you expect to be most preoccupied with, and hostile to, the idea of escape?" and gave the obvious answer: jailers."
-C.S. Lewis
