Over the past two years, my favourite days have been the ones Iāve spent in the studio with royals, making the kind of music Iāve always wanted to make. Learning how to sing again like Iām painting with colours. Playing the actress on screen.
From the start, Iāve thought of this developing project as a conceptual narrative. I tried framing it under my name, which Iāve always loved, but the songs seemed to work best coming from a main character I understood more & more as I got to know her ā Carrie Matisse.
Carrie is based on literary works that have kept me company and artistic practices of a famous fauvist painter. Iāve thought a lot about what she would say and why she would say it; Iām curious now to see how she lives.
