Summary:

Short and random first summer one-shot.

What better way to kill time with Percy Tozaki than by waging a bet?

"Loser grants the winner a wish" kind of thing.

What wish?

It's up to the winner, silly.

It started with a bet. The usual loser would grant the winner anything they wanted.

But as you somehow expected, Percy did a sneaky and grinded the map for God knows how long. There was no real competition with just how many times Percy-mmon made you eat the dust.

So, of course, you lost. A literally deafening defeat with how our winner never missed a second to gloat in your face.

It was just verbal teasing until he started squishing your face with both of his hands; well, while still vocalizing his immense victory. He never missed doing that.

But the thing was... whatever this man's doing could be the death of you with how fast your heart rate was going.

His face was too close you could faintly smell a hint of citrus and soap. And his warm hands enveloping your squished cheeks were making your face equally hot.

But the sudden change in his expression made you shudder. He was just having fun, totally amused by his win when his smile turned to a sly grin.

“I think I know what I want.”

That made you visibly gulp. We’re talking about Percy Tozaki here, and he would certainly ask for the most ridiculous things. All at your expense.

“A kiss.”

Excuse me?

He didn’t even give you the opportunity to respond when he slowly inched his face towards you, eyes lidded and all.

You two had been stuck to each other's hip the whole summer break, and you knew this was just a prank.

So, one quick thinking and you settled with… going along with what he wanted. Both of you were that comfortable with each other so it wouldn't be weird.

A simple humouring should slap him back his senses and, hopefully, dampen the raging heart against your chest.

A kiss should be easy, right? No problem at all. You comically puckered your lips just like a familiar constipated-looking fish plush, then acted like you were on a rush to plant your lips on his.

“Huh-“

It was too sudden with how fast you went in, that you didn't notice Percy was frozen in place...

Aha… if you could crawl in a hole right now, you would. Maybe stay there for a year or two.

You expected him to move back when you bared your lips like a duck. Did you move too fast that he wasn’t able to react? Urgh, no way. We’re talking about Percy here, and his reflexes were no joke.

But no point mulling over spilled milk. You both had to face the reality that you had just kissed. You immediately kneeled and bowed your head all the way to the floor.

“I’M SO SORRY, I THOUGHT YOU WOULD MOVE SO I DIDN’T EXPECT that TO HAPPEN.” You subconsciously whispered in the middle while apologizing - like, who wouldn’t?

The position you’re in made it impossible to see how he’s reacting, so, if you were feeling miserable earlier, you’re now ten times that. But he’s a good friend. He gently tapped you on the back, slipping his hands on your shoulders to get you back up to the sofa.

You couldn’t help but take a quick glance at him to confirm how he’s coping and saw a tomato-red Percy. His eyes averted to the side as he obviously couldn’t look at you right now. Ouch.

He spoke before you could do a re-take of your apology though.

“My bad, Sage. I…I kind of knew you were going to pull that shit up but, I don’t know. I just froze. But not for a bad reason, I swear.”

Sheepishly scratching his head, he flashed you a lopsided smile as if saying “it was an accident so don’t take it too hard”.

Your expression probably still looked horrible making Percy sigh a smile. So, to give you more consolation, he provided you with a different outlook.

“Just think of it as an accident! It can totally happen to anyone, you know. Maybe tomorrow I might end up kissing Jamie. We’ll never know.” he shook his head, probably cringing on that possibility.

He had a point so, finally, you chalked it up as a flimsy error on both of your parts. No biggie. But you still wanted to apologize again.

“…Fine. But, still, I want to say sorry.”

His eyes softened but immediately turned to the usual foxy-sly look he usually had.

“Maybe we can re-do it in the future. One that’s not a mistake.” He spoke in an unmistakeable seductive manner, an octave lower and hushed as if it was a secret between you two.

Now that was a bull’s eye, you had no idea what face you were making now. Mix of disbelief and fluster, maybe?

Basking again in victory, Percy stood up, clapped his hands as if to finalise this whole… thing, and gave you another offer.

“Anyway, I just know you'll mull over this the whole month, sooooo..."

He made a gesture of opening his arms wide, awfully similar to a religious icon whose portrait was hanging in your family home.

"As a gesture of good will, I’ll take you out for dinner. So, get up, loser. We’re going, uh, dining. Damn, I almost got it.”

He clicked his tongue for the missed quote opportunity, but not before offering his hand to you.

It had been months since you met him, and you could finally see that Percy had this thing of doing a 180 of what he was saying. His plain, old sarcasm being overturned by a thought-given act. So, it was kind of nice that you were learning more about him.

Anyway, who would even turn down free food? Of course, you’d take his offer. You raised your hand to grab his, though not without letting him do the literal heavy work of heaving you up.

As you both walked to wherever Percy planned, you pondered about how this night would have been a disaster. But thanks to his cool demeanour over the whole thing, you didn’t have a chance to blow off your cover.

But even with the kiss chucked off as an unfortunate incident, you still couldn’t shake off the lingering feeling of his lips on yours. He might have called it an accident, but for you, well, it was more like a happy one.

Just pray he won’t find out or you wouldn’t hear the end of it.

this weekend was too intense; my whole mood depended on five korean guys who click mouses for a living, and i'm happy to say that all the heart attacks they gave paid off lol

here's a WIP cross-over where i imagined percy totally chill that his team won. don't bother the hair, he wasn't face-palming and combing his hair out of frustration the past six hours, nope. i mean, just look at his big smile ^^;;;;
