âBut there was never a time when that decision was ours,â he replied with a shrug and a small smile. âSo thereâs no use going over what could have been.â Truthfully, Lucius would have been quite content to marry Alecto. He knew her. Not only that, but he liked her, even away from their secret rendezvous. As far as matches went, you were incredibly lucky if you got that. But that wasnât to be, and Narcissa was a perfectly good match even if she had once just been Bellatrixâs youngest sister to him.
âAnd your morals are too righteous to have an affair?â he asked, with a slightly teasing smile. Lucius didnât really see it as an affair because he wasnât really the one who committed himself to Narcissa; his parents had. And it wasnât as though he had any illusions about what could come from it, he would, and wanted, to end up with Narcissa. But that didnât really stop him wanting Alecto now.
Lucius knew Alecto far too well. Questioning her morals made her smile, as if it was an old joke between the two of them. She tilted her head with that smile. âYou know morals are for goody-two-shoes,â she chuckled. âWhy do you always win an argument?â Alecto questioned, the smile never leaving her face. He was making her feel better about all of this and she no longer felt any sort of guilt. If he was in, she was in.
