Hawke's sibling!!!
If Carver was a templar, he could've been with the templars that joined the Inquisition! Circle mage Bethany could've been with the rebel mages in Redcliffe!
And I know Hawke says they had Aveline take their sibling far away from Orlais if they're a Warden, but that feels so silly. Instead of having Alistair return, (again,) Hawke's contact should've been Bethany or Carver. Imagine how much more devastating the choice between leaving Hawke or their sibling behind in the Fade would have been!! Hello!!
Thrilled to announce this is finished and ready for publication! I am a big fan of Carver Hawke, and pain, angst, and using humor to cope with my feelings. And so, I present this to you all! An actually finished project!

"Carver's waiting." Fenris' voice caused Alice to jump. She'd somehow forgotten he was there, probably because he'd been so silent the entire time the Inquisitor and her group were present.
"Yes," Alice said. She took him in, hooked her fingers in the edges of his breastplate and pulled him close. "What was with you? You hardly said a word."
"I have little to add to the conversation, regarding Wardens," Fenris said. "And we don't know these people. The Inquisitor and that mage with her are elven, yes, but you know as well as I do the Chantry is heavily involved with the Inquisition."
"They denounced the Inquisition, back in Haven."
"Does that mean they wouldn't seize upon the chance to apprehend an escaped elven slave?" Fenris asked. "If it meant favor with Tevinter? Or the Venatori?"
"I would hope not! Fen, Varric trusts them. Medusa is outspoken about her worship of her gods. She works openly with Qunari. She allied with the rebel mages. I can't imagine a collection of people less inclined to run tattling on the Blue Wraith to the Chantry."
"Dissenters and those who don't agree may," Fenris pointed out in a low voice. "I'd rather keep my presence as unobtrusive as possible than run that risk."
"I suppose I understand. But I have it on good authority the Champion of Kirkwall would lay her neck on the chopping block to defend you."
That made him smile, the tiniest bit. "I know. I appreciate it, Alice. Truly. But we have larger, more pressing concerns."
Alice melted against him. Tucked in this sheltered place, unless Carver came tearing at top speed out of the smuggler's tunnel, they were relatively hidden from any prying eyes. She kissed him slowly, and he returned it. Once, twice, and then he broke away with a sigh.
"When we're done here," Alice promised quietly, "before we return to Tevinter, we are going to find a nice, plush, private inn and make the maids there hate us."
He laughed with his chest and stole one more kiss. "I look forward to it."
For those of you that don't know a few months ago a group of very talented authors came together to write a Grey Warden Cookbook (AO3 link) where each recipe was accompanied by a letter from or to a Grey Warden. The goal was to show the diversity of the wardens, in priorities, in culture, in life, and in goals, as a reflection of their food.
