❝ say that a lil’ louder ... i don’t think the old lady over there heard ya. ❞
he snapped in a silent tone, no different than his normal voice
save for the added emphasis of his annoyed gaze. the man
seemed on edge, somewhat strange to witness yet nothing
cassidy hadn’t heard before. people in this town walked
around on eggshells for the weirdest things.
❝ oh i did! and this young gentleman is right — men should not ... ❞
❝ miss.? go back to the salt ‘n’ pepper shakers. ❞
he leaned back in his chair, rubbing his temple slightly before
remembering what had been asked of him. quickly standing up at
the thought, he walked to the back only to return seconds later
with the same bowl he had given to a blonde girl earlier.
❝ we got a few crosses in here — comes separate
from the chain. i keep ‘em over there ‘cause ... ❞
his voice trailed off as his gaze fell upon a child making a
mess in one of the aisles. without saying another word, he
arched his brow and looked back at beau as if to add “enough said.”
