She searched through till she found the one, Alice in Wonderland. She took the DVD over to the player and put it in, powering up the television as well. By the time she was finished Bruce was back and sitting on the couch. She climbed up beside him and pressed play on the remote before reaching for her plate. “Yesss!” She giggled and dug in gently with her fork. “Tim is gonna be sooooo jealous!”

Bruce sat back with his own plate, picking at the cake with his fork and making it into smaller pieces before he started to eat. “Is he?” he asked with a fond smile. “Don’t go rubbing it in his face, now. That’s not polite,” he told his daughter.

Cassandra took considerably larger bites than Bruce, funny since she was smaller than he. She nodded in response. "I know," she said "But he'll probably find out on his own. Tim's smart." She stated, nodding her head again.

She giggled and clamped a hand over Bruce’s mouth. “Shhhhh.” She looked around as he carried her, and slowly lowered her hand. “I think we’re in a safe spot now.” Which was good considering Bruce wasn’t quiet with his next statement. She slid down from his back and nodded enthusiastically. “Sounds good!” She gave two thumbs up before dashing to the shelves where they kept the movies.

Bruce chuckled softly against the hand. He watched his daughter hurry over to check what movies they owned. While she did so, he turned and headed into the kitchen, grabbing two plates and getting them each a piece of cake for now. He didn’t eat such things normally, but when he was spending time with Cassandra, he allowed himself to splurge. Keeping to two glasses of water, he headed back and sat down, patting the seat next to him.

Regardless of her age she would always love participating in more childish hobbies. It was relaxing, and something she knew she could always drag Bruce into. She laughed light and flighty as she was lifted, cuddling closer to her father as she was carried. “What movie?” She questioned before glancing around. “Shhh. Alfred has ears everywhere.” She whispered. “But cake is always good.”

“Oh, yes. I’m sorry. I’ve forgotten he has the whole place wired. I heard he even has our heads wired, he can hear our thoughts, Wren,” Bruce joked lightly with his daughter as he carried her towards the sitting room. “How about you pick the movie and I’ll pick what flavor ice cream to go with our cake?” he suggested.

Taken And Abused.

You never thought it could happen to you, but it did. One second, you were walking home peacefully, the next a rag was covering your mouth and everything went black. You wake up chained to the wall in a basement, and you can hear two men speaking a language you don’t know upstairs. There are others and they are terrified. Someone is coming to save you, no doubt. But, will they get there too late?

Cassandra may not have been the most resourceful of girls, but she was pretty smart. Book smart, street smart, and it was all thanks to Bruce. Unfortunately that wouldn’t do her much good tonight.

She had been out on a walk, something she did normally, twice or three times in a week. With the threat in the city she had to sneak out against her father’s wishes. But she had done it anyhow, and that’s how she got here--maybe?

The room was damp, it smelled of rust and mold. It was dimly lit and Cass had a hard time making out other shadows of people in the room. How could she have let this happen? She had always been so careful before, and it wasn’t like she couldn’t defend herself. She had been training at least a little bit in the field of self-defense. She moved her hands behind her back, the rope that held them there digging into her frail wrists. She would have cursed if not for the fact that she was sure that Alfred wouldn’t have approved. There were others in the room, men, women (mostly), and a couple other children. Her teeth dug into her lower lip as she struggled with the rope binding, giving up when she felt the burning sensation there.

How had she gotten into this mess? She wracked her brain for an answer--a memory.

She had been walking, it was dark and the only illumination was the moonlight mixed with scattered street lamps. She was sure she’d heard footsteps some distance behind, but shrugged it off as someone else enjoying the crisp night air. She’d stuffed her hands in the pocket of her pull-over hoodie and continued on her journey. A yawn broke past her lips and that was when she’d felt it: The warm breath on her neck, an arm that came around her waist, and a hand that placed itself over her parted mouth. Darkness came quickly after several seconds of struggle from the small-framed girl, but she was no match for the person who held her.

She should have been more careful, she should have stayed home. Now she’d be lucky if she made it out alive. That was when steps came for the stairs, a moment passed and a deep voice rang out through the damp room. Cassandra took a moment to beg for Bruce to save her, or Alfred to come down the stairs. She’d closed her eyes tight. At this point she’d take even Dick rushing in or busting through a window. Anyone, she just missed them all so much.

She hadn’t even gotten a chance to say goodbye.

“I saaaaiiiiiidddddd–Papa come color with me.” Cassandra stood behind him and wrapped her arms around the mans shoulders. “But if it was a long day–we can do something not so involved? We could watch tv, or you can read to me.”

Despite the fact that he was most definitely feeling his age today, he found himself crouching down and getting his fifteen year old on his back to carry her. “Coloring?” he repeated. Despite her being fifteen, he would never question that she might be too old for coloring. He didn’t feel right taking that innocent hobby away room her. “How about we watch a movie while we color? I think Alfred made some cake earlier, we can sneak into that, too.”

She hadn't been /sneaking/ she'd been... Walking around very carefully. She perked at the words that could've only been directed at her and straightened out her dress. "I'm not sneaking." Cassandra stated swiftly. "I'm just--" she took his other word. "/Shy/."

Alfred breathed out as he made his rounds made sure the things that needed done were. He had to smile at the changes in the things that happen in his life. He was sad that Bruce parents died but raising him had been the joy of his life. But then he adopted his share of children that he helped raise as well. First came Dick and then Jason. Then Cassidy and seems they were getting another one named Tim. He sensed the pain from Dick about the situation but he knew things would work out. The boy would become family and Dick would soften. He knew the boy that was inside Dick. He parked in front of Cassidy school since it was almost time for her to be out. He had promised that since it was Friday they would go to the mall to find her something. He was also going to get her ice cream she had kept her grades good.

Cassandra had spent her school day feeling pretty great. Life had been different recently. Dick spent his days training and out with Papa Bruce late at night. She’d been convinced that she was just far too young to go out for all the excitement, leaving her home with Alfred either doing her schoolwork or on occasion helping out in the Batcave where need be. By this point it had just become routine. She skipped out from the building that she so happily called her ‘holding cell’ during the days and was quick to pick out the car Alfred was in. In a rush she zipped through other students, opening a door and landing herself in the passenger seat. “Hey Alfred! How was your day?” She smiled widely, her eyes twinkling.
