"Thursday." He said softly. "Alright, I know you're 'busy' and you're probably doing 'heaven stuff' but you can't just go missing for this long and expect me not to be worried." Laughing a little manically Cas ran a hand through his hair. "I can't believe I'm sitting here praying to myself. Would you just take some time out of your busy day and maybe answer your best friend?"
He stops full on. Being curling out at the ends in little strings of color as it tries to catch up to the sudden lack of movement. He had not heard a prayer directed at him in so long. Not from someone he knows. He’s not been in a physical body for so long, he’s forgotten what it even felt like, sounds like. But this voice he remembers. It makes him feel quite suddenly like a person again. So the large mass of color and sound and wavelength scrunches itself up tightly, and begins to shove itself back to earth. Hands, feet, eyes, ears, a heartbeat. It’s disorienting, feels alien yet strikingly familiar. He stumbles as he lands with the quiet sound of wings. “Cas?” His own voice sounds foreign to him. But it’s still there. And he breaks into a smile at his oldest and closest friend.
He had no idea if Thursday was going to hear him. He had hoped, but he had also BEEN there. Celestial bodies of intent tended to forget about…people. That was a major flaw with the angels in the first place. He could tell it had been a REALLY long time since Thursday had a form and he knew how out of it that it could make you feel. He grabbed on to home and well yanked him into a hug because what ELSE was he gonna do with his best friend. “Sorry to disturb you, but sometimes you REALLY need to just check in.” There wasn’t even a crisis. He just missed Thursday. That was all. Things got lonely when you were hiding from heaven. It was good to have his friend back, even it if only might be for a while. “You’ve got that after-burn feeling in your throat don’t you?” It was like tasting ozone and Cas had never really cared for it.
Oh. Hugging. Yes that, that was a thing he used to do. It took almost half a minute before he had the good mind to raise his arms and hug back. “You’re not disturbing me.” A lie, and a clumsy one, so he decided to try something different. “You’re always allowed to disturb me.” There, that felt more natural.
As strange as it was to suddenly be physical again, it seemed to be coming back quicker than he had anticipated. You never really forget, maybe. He pulled back from the hug so he could look at Cas, holding onto his shoulders as it to prove to himself he was real. “I missed you.”
