you know what keeps me up at night?

the relief on Rimmer's face in "Blue" when Lister hugs him. you can see the desperation in his eyes and it HAUNTS me.

and i know they make out right after and it's great lol, but something about the sheer, desperate need in his eyes when they finally embrace fucking kills me.

this man is so touch starved. and what makes it worse is that this is Lister's dream. he's imagining this being Rimmer's reaction to being hugged. somewhere in Lister's mind, even if it's subconscious, he knows how badly Rimmer needs to be held. HE KNOWS.

#this makes me insane honestly i am climbing the walls thinking about it #hands down my favourite part of this scene #and its like. lister's dreaming of a version of Rimmer that reacts that way to HIM.#a version of Rimmer that is so happy and relieved to be with Lister again. a version of Rimmer that loves him #because as far as Lister knows? he doesn't #(actually the more i think about it the more interesting the choice to shoot it this way was #because it IS Lister's dream- he's the POV character here surely we should be getting a shot of his face instead. hmm. much 2 think about)

Red dwarf doesn't even need to be funny tbh. The costume designers deliberately drew attention to Rimmer's effeminate waistline and ass so you black out and miss the punchline of 90% of jokes anyway
