1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, ``Do not look at his appearance... because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

We often judge people based on their outward appearance. But God looks deeper, he sees their heart.

He sees their brokenness, their pain, and above all their deep spiritual longing. Jesus always sought people who were in distress, who needed healing, both physical and spiritual. He always gave them the good news of the gospel. 

Today, let's ask God to give us eyes to see as the Lord sees. We don't know what the people around us are going through, our family, our colleagues, our neighbours and friends. Let's ask God to fill us with compassion,  love and understanding, that instead of judging them we might be a source of comfort to them. Let's not always be self absorbed, let's reach out to those around us.

THE WORD FOR 13/4

When it comes to the battles we face, anyone can walk away. It takes no courage to walk away. It’s a lot less painful to turn our backs and leave. We may not have the courage to face up to the enemy. But our God provides a well of strength that we can draw from anytime we need. He gives courage to all who say “I cannot do this alone.”

Jesus assures us that the war won’t be easy but promises us that if we trust in Him He will fight the battle for us and let us share in the victory. Don’t give up.  Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. Exodus 14:13

Isaiah 53: 5

“.. the punishment that brought us peace was on Him..”

Jesus was punished, so I can be at peace.

Why did Jesus need to be punished for me to attain peace ?

“Let the peace of God, rule and govern your heart.”

God’s peace is a protective layer on His children’s heart.

If Jesus was not punished for my sins, I would not have been reconciled w God - as sin separates mankind from God.

As such, His peace would not protect my heart.

Sin causes turmoil & destruction. Those He created for Himself, will always have a longing for Him. But when we do not “feed” that longing w Him, and instead try to fill it w other things (such as sin), there will be a void that leaves us with a troubled heart.

But, because of Jesus’ death, I am able to receive forgiveness for my sins and receive God’s peace that will guard my heart.

God is waiting to guard my heart w His peace.

Am I willing to repent & receive the forgiveness He is offering, and stop wallowing in shame & guilt ?

“..by His wounds we are healed.”

His wounds, they don’t just heal physical pain but spiritual, emotional and mental hurts.

Allow Him to heal you.

Yes, sometimes when you treat a would, it’s gonna hurt more than when left untreated. But what you fail to see is that because of your temporary relief (avoidance) you face a long-term defect, that wouldn’t even be there if treated. The faster you treat it, the quicker the healing process (depending on the wound).

You are not greater than God to punish yourself for something He has already forgiven.

Your understanding of God is v limited. His mercy & grace is beyond your comprehension.

Try Him. Try tasting the goodness of God and using His grace to live today.

Grace is not a means to sin, but to overcome temptations.

Twice this day The Lord reminded me that He is perfect in all of His ways.

The cobwebs in my mind seem impossible to be rid of, but my God is perfect in every situation. Even in my anxieties and mess, He is God and is able to pave a way.

I trust You, my Father - I surrender.

On the journey of life, we come across plateaus and valleys. These grounds shape us and nurture us to be the persons we are today. How it shapes us depends on the extent we allow change and growth; learning the art of acting and being still, when either is required. While everyone is on a journey, some cross paths with us and we journey together for certain periods. Sometimes, when their mission in our lives is accomplished, we continue our own journeys.

Family however, is the only circle that will always journey with you. We have stretched each other to our limits, punched & pulled yet one thing remains, love. I believe they are an embodiment of love and I have learnt to love because of them. 

As reflectors of the Father’s love, I pray that we will be slow to anger and quick to listen — love; especially toward the ones we very so often take for granted.

“Abba, remain the centre of our home and lives, In Christ’s name; Amen.”
