There are days I miss my old friends and I think about messaging them but then I remember that they hate me and I can't because it'll just make me more sad. But also I'm pretty sure even if they did want to be friends again it would never ever be the same like it was. I like my friends now, but I miss old memories.

I love who I am. I love where I live. I love who I'm with. I kinda love my life right now. It feels good. I hope I can remember this when I'm sad because right now I feel like everything that makes me feel bad can't hurt me.

A mess but it's a good mess

I grew up with my family telling me that dark was ugly. People in my family constantly make comments saying "wow you turned out the darkest in our family that much be hard for you" or "maybe as you grow up, your skin will get fairer" and "have you considered bleaching your skin?". Most of you know I'm from India. Within India there are 29 states, im from Tamil Nadu, one of the most southern states. Typically people from Tamil Nadu are born dark, but my family happened to be a lighter shade. Everyone sees all the Bollywood actresses from northern India and thinks that having fair skin is the only way you will ever be able to become beautiful. I have been told SO MANY TIMES that I would look better if I was born with lighter skin BY MY OWN FAMILY. If you don't know, there is a product that is advertised widely in India called "fair and lovely". It's essentially a bleaching cream, made to make you fairer. I used to think, wow maybe I need that, maybe being fairer would make me more beautiful. BUT FUCK THAT. YOU DON'T NEED TO BE FAIR TO BE BEAUTIFUL. YOU NEED TO BE YOU. Desi girls out there, if anyone in your family ever tells you that you need to be ashamed for how you were born, it was a fault in them. Not you. I am unfair and lovely. Shirt: @shopglo
