This is the final outcome of three different visual effects shots I completed. This first of which is a logo animation created using after effects, particular using the turbulent displacement effect to create the squiggly lines reminiscent of lightning movement. I thought this shot was turned out quite well as a bold but simple logo. The second shot was a combination of using live action and 3D models to create an establishing shot of an alienesque forest environment. I thought this shot also turned out quite well but do think that the quality of the footage was lacking. The reason for this was because I wanted uncrisp footage to create a foggy environment so the camera was slightly defocused when filming, though if I were to do this shot again I would defiantly capture crisp footage before digitally blurring to the degree I wanted. On of the most important nodes I used in Nuke in order for the 3D mushroom models to blend into my back plate footage was the defocus node because of the quality of my footage. This was graded with Davinci Resolve and uses several power windows to create the blurred mist, a dark vignette, and brighter mushrooms. The final shot was a collaborative shot with film students for a period piece, in which candle flames were required to be placed into shot. To do this I tracked the footage in Nuke, but unfortunately a good track was not achieved due to having no track markers. this meant that I had to often manually key the position of the flames which was quite time consuming especially due to the large file size of the footage I was given. To the flames I had to luma key to extract the flames from the footage before adding a glow node and a defocus node to the flames to blend them to the footage
