Most of the shots were rendered in 3 passes, that were then composited in After Effects to create the final image.
The first image is a Diffuse render. I contains the basic colours and shaders and some shadows.
Next comes an Ambient Occlusion render, which I achieved by replacing all textures by a Mental Ray material with an added Ambient/Reflective Occlusion. This is placed on the Diffuse render in After Effects on Multiply and 50% opacity.
The last render, which is a render pass taken out of the Diffuse render, contains the Lighting. This is also placed on the Diffuse render on Multiply and 50% opacity.
Lastly I added a Brightness and Contrast and Color Balance effect to play with the settings a bit. The last image is a final still from the film.
