Everyone should read this if given the chance. The only things I would add are specific to vampirism but very, very big red flags in alterhuman spaces that provide spaces for vampirism. I hope you don’t mind us adding this, but we have run spaces related to vampirism and these red flags are more specific to those spaces.
- Draining without the consent of others. It’s a lot more common than you think, and energy draining counts here.
- Treating donors or other people as food or objects to be fed from.
- Claiming vampirism is unmanageable due to one’s identity. (We have literally seen someone try to claim that being a demon makes their Need unmanageable, so it is therefore okay for them to want to murder strangers to feed.)
- Claiming Need management does not work.
- Being against the idea that minors cannot consent to drain/be drained for energy or blood. It is discouraged due to how dependent a feeder may be on a donor and how a Need can be taken advantage of and used to manipulate, how often it can out someone via cuts, and sexual feeding also being common in vampirism spaces.
- Looking for a way to live forever using alterhumanity or vampirism, or claiming to have special powers and traits due to vampirism.
- Using vampirewebsite.net as a resource, a blacklisted fake resource on vampirism that insults the Vampyre Community and gives potentially dangerous blood feeding advice that can lead to iron poisoning.
- Claims that clinical vampirism is a real diagnosis.
- Claims that vampires are more advanced than humans, such as being the “next step in human evolution,” a different breed of human, or general ideas of vampires being superior due to being able to feed and needing to.
- Encouraging autofeeding (consuming one’s own blood or energy), especially with people who have histories of self-harm.
- Claims that hunters are out to get vampires.
- Claims of being able to turn others or seeking out people who ask to be turned.
- Claims to consume the souls of feeders.
- Being a part of or supporting groups that gatekeep vampirism or have cult-like behaviors. (Seen this quite a few times.)
