subtle alterhuman gear/expression!

hiii guys i’ve been planning this post for a while and it’s just smth i wanna see more of! usually, when you look for alterhuman/therian/otherkin gear you see very obvious stuff, like masks, tails, ears, or pendants with clear symbols on them. all super cool, but alas i do not have the bravery (or support) that some others have. so…i wanted to make a post for more subtle forms of expression!! anyway here it is, and PLEASE add more in the reblogs if you think of any!

small accessories with paw prints! for example, i have a bracelet with a small paw charm on it

cat collars as bracelets/keychains! theyre small enough to go on a wrist and can pass fairly well as a chunkier alt bracelet, especially if you wear lots of other jewelry

feathers on earrings or necklaces

wear socks that look normal, but have paw prints on the bottoms

pins with your theriotype on it on a backpack with lotsss of other pins. pro tip: disguising it among many other pins makes it blend in sooo much better!

this is a bit specific, but i wear a necklace with the moon phases on it as a nod to my werewolf kintype. even if that doesn’t fully work, there’s similar things that can! examples could be: wearing something depicting the moon for nocturnal kintypes, using patterns of scales for dragons or aquatic creatures, etc

makeup can be super great for expression! i like to use very smudgy, slightly downturned eyeliner to feel more canine. for felines, maybe a more upturned liner with an inner corner would work, for angelkins or other deities, maybe something very shiny and ethereal could work. if you don’t know where to start, i would study the facial features of your kintype (if it’s an animal) or picture what it looks like in your mind, get a general vibe. the possibilities are endless!! (btw i might make a more in depth post on using makeup to express your alterhumanity, lmk if that would be smth youd all be interested in!

hairdye! a while ago i had dyed my hair partially orange which helped me connect (kinnect…?) to my fox theriotype. you can think about your coat color, scale color, wing color, exoskeleton color, etc and dye your hair similarly!

that’s all i can think of for now! more subtle behaviors that could help you connect is taking care of your local wildlife, going for walks/hiking, or painting rocks in the woods!
