THEY JUST KEEP GETTING BETTER
Pencil test time! This is the tied down version of one of the shots I animated for the opening credits of Gravity Falls
Still some of the most brilliantly subtle and wonderful animation I’ve ever seen. James Baxter is a hero.
CHEAP HALF-BODY COLOURED COMMISSIONS FROM $10!!!
Long story short, I feel a lil uneasy with the amount of money I have and how soon I’m moving to the other side of the world… So I’m gonna be doing these simple coloured half-body commissions!
$10 isnt a fixed price! If you pay $10, you’ll probably end up with something like the first two examples (flat/simple colours). If you want more effort and cooler effects on your commission, chuck in some extra bucks and I’ll make something that looks more like the second two examples! The price is still per character so 2 characters will be at least $20.
I’m cool with drawing OCs, fanart, fluffy ships, personas, mostly whatever! Inbox me or email me if you”re interested!
My paypal is [email protected] , I have to recieve the payment before I work on your request, but don’t worry! I draw pretty quick!
Alternatively, if you’re Australian I can give you my BSB and Account Number. Or you guys can go to my art blog and click the donate button and put in the agreed amount there!
I understand that not all my followers will want commissions, but if you could get the word out and signal boost this, that would be killer!
I can’t wait ‘til the day that I finally get to say,
“Mom, Dad, you don’t have to work anymore. Relax. I can support you now. Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me.”
Pi day .Gif !!!!

Oscar nominees Best Animated Feature 2014
Earlier today this article was brought to my attention, in which it becomes clear that some of the Academy voters have little to no respect for the animation industry. They openly admit not having watched the nominated films and/or claiming that animated films are for kids, so they didn’t vote. Even the ones shown in the article that did vote barely motivated their choice.
I find this extremely disrespectful of the animators who poured their heart and soul into making these movies, only to have their work be pushed aside without a second glance by the judges of one of the most prominent and well known film awards out there. As an aspiring animator, I am deeply insulted.
Please note that in this post I am expressing no opinion on whether Frozen should have won or not. I think it’s a wonderful film, just as all the other nominees. I am simply saying that we deserve better.
What they did is disrespectful to the creators of every single one of these films, even Frozen. By barely motivating their choice, they make it look like they voted for Frozen simply because of Disney’s status in the industry. Because it’s Disney, and it made a lot of money, so it had to be at least somewhat good. To me it seems like some of the voters just defaulted to voting for the Disney film, and nobody likes to win by default.
Don’t get me wrong, I too have been guilty of loving Disney simply because it’s Disney, but there is so much more beautiful animation out there and it deserves to be taken into consideration. And if Frozen won, it should have won because the majority of the voters thought it was the best film, not because part of the voters was too lazy to even watch the nominated films.
A lil’ snippet of a short we’re working on here at GW HQ
We did it. My hands are shaking.
(Question from my Ask.fm account)
I’ve been asked a lot about developing styles and improving so I thought I would make an advice comic for you lovelies~ :>
It’s so hard to explain about our development in art styles. We may be influenced by the same things, but how we illustrate, express, and think is completely different. It’s not something you can buy or learn in a class.
Remember that age doesn’t matter and it’s never too late. You can draw whether you’re 30 or 13. You’re still young! And there’s no rush. We learn at our pace and should be proud of ourselves for continuing to draw. Not many people realize that art is a pretty tough field and I know a couple that have given up and chosen other paths.
Improvement will happen if you keep on doing what you love. It will take time but keep practicing and months (or years) from now you’ll be amazed at how much you’ve progressed. Soon your doodles that used to take you 2 hours will take only a minute or less.
But again, you have to just do it. This applies with music, performance, or anything else. Tutorials, books, and advices won’t mean anything unless you actually do it.
Don’t think about what anyone will think, if you’ll be famous or not, or if you’ll develop a “unique” style. Just start drawing. Fanart, figure drawing, animals, anime, just do it!!
You will improve and you will create great things. Just do it!!
I hope this helps!
Sandra always knows how to put it.
Hey CatFat do you think about the twelve principles when you animate, or do you just feel your way through it ?
I'd like to say that I feel out the animation. But come to think of it, I guess i'm always subconsciously checking against the 12 principles, like the weight of the movement, the easing of the beginning and ending of the action, etc. Ideally, the principles should be ingrained into your memory so that you know them by heart and don't have to consciously think about them. Then you can just let rip, have fun and really feeeel it out ;D
