Doctor Who and Guardian Angels
So if you're a fellow Whovian, then this might peak your interest. Sorry for any spoilers. If you're not a Whovian, well you should be. Only half kidding.
When the Doctor said "Listen!" he was listening for some sort of confirmation that somebody is there. The Doctor thinks that when we talk out loud to no one, we're actually talking out loud to someone. That someone may have been a person who has mastered the art of hiding.
But I talk out loud to "no one", I like to think I talk out loud to my guardian angel. I know my guardian angel is there beside me at all times, making sure I don't mess up. So when I talk, I like to think my guardian angel is listening and smiling because let's face it, I am a silly human. Does my guardian respond? Sometimes but never through the physical world. Only through the spiritual world - a sense of peace, a feeling of excitement, a boast of determination.
Listen. My guardian angel certainly is doing so.
Byyyyyyy the way, bonus points to anyone who looked at the title and thought i was going to talk about those freaky statue things. *Shudder* Probably one of the top ten on my "scariest alien" list. I have a feeling that this next episode's alien is going to also make my list. Spoilers :)
Catholic girl problems: When you plan the night before to wear your rose print tomorrow in honor of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, but you wake up in such a rush that you forget. Sigh. Happy feast day anyways!
Pray the Rosary.
Inspiring sculpture by Timothy Schmalz (website, facebook) to be installed at Shrine of Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy.
Timothy describes his experience: ”The whole time I was working on the sculpture a strange experience happened, I could not stop thinking of all the vile sins I created in my life. It was like a movie on repeat. After I was done with this, my thoughts broadened to worse sins that were created in my country, murders horrific that I heard of in the news. I could not believe what I was thinking and I could not prevent my thoughts from going to these dark places. After days of this, I thought, how horrible, I am creating a sculpture of a saint and this is what is going on inside of me? Then I understood that I was creating a sculpture of a saint who was known for confessions, In fact St. Pio has become the Patron Saint of Confessions. What was happening to me was a long confession throughout the creation of the sculpture. The Gloom I experienced was then replaced with peace when after each horrific image that passed through my mind was prayed with, and asked for forgiveness; my deeds and those of others. A fascinating journey creating this work.” (+)
Padre Pio please pray and assist all priests, especially those close to my heart. Amen.
Padre Pio in the dining room of the convent saying a prayer at mealtime.
St. Padre Pio’s Prayer after Holy Communion:
Stay with me, Lord, for it is necessary to have You present so that I do not forget You. You know how easily I abandon You.
Stay with me, Lord, because I am weak and I need Your strength, that I may not fall so often.
Stay with me, Lord, for You are my life, and without You, I am without fervor.
Stay with me, Lord, for You are my light, and without You, I am in darkness.
Stay with me, Lord, to show me Your will.
Stay with me, Lord, so that I hear Your voice and follow You.
Stay with me, Lord, for I desire to love You very much, and always be in Your company.
Stay with me, Lord, if You wish me to be faithful to You.
Stay with me, Lord, for as poor as my soul is, I wish it to be a place of consolation for You, a nest of Love.
Stay with me, Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is coming to a close, and life passes, death, judgement, eternity approaches. It is necessary to renew my strength, so that I will not stop along the way and for that, I need You. It is getting late and death approaches. I fear the darkness, the temptations, the dryness, the cross, the sorrows. O how I need You, my Jesus, in this night of exile! Stay with me tonight, Jesus, in life with all its dangers, I need You.
Let me recognize You as Your disciples did at the breaking of bread, so that the Eucharistic Communion be the light which disperses the darkness, the force which sustains me, the unique joy of my heart.
Stay with me, Lord, because at the hour of my death, I want to remain united to You, if not by Communion, at least by grace and love.
Stay with me, Jesus, I do not ask for divine consolation, because I do not merit it, but, the gift of Your Presence, oh yes, I ask this of You!
Stay with me, Lord, for it is You alone I look for. Your Love, Your Grace, Your Will, Your Heart, Your Spirit, because I love You and ask no other reward but to love You more and more.
With a firm love, I will love You with all my heart while on earth and continue to love You perfectly during all eternity.
Amen

There are just some things you never forget. I will never forget where I was the morning of the attacks. - At home, getting ready for school. I will never forget what happened at first period. - We did nothing in biology class. We thought the whole thing was a joke that someone was pulling. I will never forget the moment I realized this was serious. - English class. My teacher, a usually talkative woman, was rendered silent and refused to teach that day. I will never forget crying that night. - I was scared they would restart a draft and my dad would leave. Every year all these emotions come back on this day. They remind me that there is still more work to do in the world. There are still more people to love and moments to cherish. There are more souls to pray for and more to convert. Lastly I am reminded to hold tight to those around me because you never know what will happen next. May God bless you all.

What to do if someone takes the Lord's name in vain
"God d....!" "Oh my G..!" "Jesus Christ!" These are just some subtle ways that the second commandment is broken. I admit that I've said one or two of these phrases from time to time, whether they were on purpose or a slip of the tongue in a passionate moment. However I think it's time to clean up our language even in those fleeting moments of our lives. Now usually if someone deliberately takes God's name in vain, it's very bible to call that person out on it. But if your like me and are too shy or timid to do that, here are some things I do instead. 1) Say a phrase after that. So if someone says, "Jesus Christ!" I immediately respond, "Have mercy on us!" Or "Blessed be His name forever!" This turns that bad phrase into something good. 2) Say a prayer once God's name is invoked. You know that every time God is called upon, He hears you. Might as well throw in a prayer intention while He's listening. 3) Do the brave thing and tell that person to stop it. Usually I'll pull that person aside and tell them, "Hey, when you say that, it really offends me. Can you please not say that?" I would say in 100% of those situations, the person stopped. This was regardless of whatever the person believed. It's easy to let something as small as language slip through. But once we pay attention to the small things, the more so we are prepared to clean up the bigger things. So don't let these common phrases keep you from heaven. May God's name be praised!
Aaaaand I'm back!
Wow. I never knew how one could be so rusty at blogging. Almost feel like I'm re-learning how to ride a bike. It's been a while since I've blogged. Here are some quick updates:
I'm married! Woooo hoooooo! Praise God for the sacrament of marriage and all the graces that come along with it.
I've moved back to my hometown and have a job! Thank God for employment and being about to be on our own.
I'm a Certified Master Catechist! Crazy, humbling process. All I know is that God is good. Let's just stick with that. Haha.
That's it for now. I'm hoping to revive this blog and to start getting some things out there. Lots of things happening. Please bear with me. God bless you all!
I will always remember when the Doctor was me.
