you know those posts that are like 'oh we should cut horror movie protagonists some slack, they don't know that they're in a horror movie'? catelyn tully stark knows that she's in a horror movie. she's the first to recognize the dead direwolf as an omen to ned, telling him not to go south. she's the one who recognizes the fire of winterfell library as a distraction for the catspaw to kill bran. she's the only one of in the hall of lords declaring robb as King in the North to feel the sense of doom as it happens. she tells robb to keep his direwolf close, and to eat of walder frey's bread and salt immediately. she's the first to recognize the Rains of Castamere playing during the feast. she was canonically the Final Girl of the red wedding. and she died anyway.

alrighty, they’re commanders of their own order. but jon is a knight of the night’s watch, not actual knighthood by Westeros’s standards and jon could actually also never be a knight because he doesn’t subscribe to the southern gods bec you gotta take the vows on them and he has the old gods. jaime is literally one of the kingsguard, the highest knighthood honour in the realm. black & white. jon & jaime both refuse winterfell & casterly rock respectively. but jaime was born to inherit it & jon was born a bastard with no claim, till now. and he’s always wanted winterfell to prove his worth.

jon & bloodraven

targaryen bastards that support the targryen side during the dance of the dragon, or so has been projected for jon. both wargs. both were lord commanders of the night’s watch. but is jon playing 4D chess with the realm because he’s radioactive levels of fuckery & ambition? not yet anyway.

& jon has constantly shown different motives throughout the books from jaime & bloodraven both so we can extrapolate that he’s not going to follow their paths in the future either? no camebackasawolf jon for me thnx. the real chink in the armor (wink, wink hehe) is that jon loves his family and neither of these 2 do. jon literally gives up his dream of winterfell for sansa & jaime burns down cersei’s letter begging him to come save her. i mean sure the parallels are there but in a very subversion of ideal character (jaime) & villain arc cautionary tale (brynden) way.

it’s really cute anon but honestly i don’t fw it 😭 because like AGAIN?!! she has to sing a song to remind someone of kindness and innocence AGAIN??? my girl’s tired, leave her alone. i’m sorry but jon’s gonna have to do this one on his own. and i’m tired of the theory that jon will come back more wolfish and forget his humanity because honestly we don’t know how long will he be dead & in ghost before he’s brought back to life, if he even is dead. we only see tunnelling of motives that badly with LSH, and not beric? so i’m just hoping it doesn’t come to that. but yeah florian jonquil parallels ftw 😎

I really, really, really like how grrm subverts the young adult protagonist expectations with arya. chosen one enough to just pick up a sword and be adept with it? while being cutesy clumsy? NO! you’re going to have to practice and stumble and poke yourself and get hurt before you get good at it. Big sword with no strength training? NO! learn with a skinny one like the child you are. go on an adventure as a princess in hiding, its harrowing! hang out with the lower rung of society and forget about them once you’re back in your high castle? NO! understands social stratification and how cruelly it mashes those it deems low and weak like a boss. have 50 boys pining after you? NO! a ragtag of bigger boys than you who bully you. adventure takes you to different lands and you lose yourself along the way and never come back? NO! you’re going to come back, you’re always going to come back. different roads sometimes lead to the same castle. every step you think is taking you away from winterfell is actually just bringing you right home. and none of it stops her from her great destiny but actively adds to it.

Thinking about how it’s somehow considered anti-Daenerys to think she will go dark at the end of the series. Like I don’t hate the character. I just don’t think she will be the most specialist good girl to ever good.

It should be anti-Daenerys to think that her character arc will be a tragedy of a girl who was traumatized and wanted to do good but could not see the flaws in her own methods and actions until it was too late. And this would make her one of the best written characters of all time because a majority of fans supported her and they fell for the same trap she did.

Like it’s not anti or hate. I just think she will be a tragic character and go dark.

d&d sansa: i’m a slow learner.

book 11yo sansa: didn’t just beg for mercy—she argued that ned wasn’t in his right mind, drugged with milk of the poppy and badly wounded. she even reminded them of the long-standing friendship between robert and her father. and she did all of this in front of joffrey’s entire court. tell me again how she’s slow.

What do you think of the theory that sansa might disguise herself as a septa to leave the vale?

The faith is very attached to her character,with alayne having the backstory of being a septa in training do you see it being important?

I feel like it has already been important throughout her Vale chapters. Petyr asks her to memorize some quotes from sacred texts to avoid too many questions and then Sansa just… doesn’t. She is subjected to too many questions and scrutiny and we don’t see her quote a single text or even bring up her faith upbringing. Plus how she acts throughout the Vale is not very Septa-In-Training-Since-Birth of her.

I think it’s a point of direction for the reader to notice that someone else might be noticing that Alayne is not who she claims she is & that her actions don’t fit in with her background story. The Royces seem to have caught up on that, at least in the way they act and considering that they looking to depose LF swiftly and vehemently, they even have the motivation to.

I mean Myranda is constantly bringing up sexual innuendo with a girl she is to believe will be pious and uptight and this -

“There’s a new High Septon, did you know? Oh, and the Night’s Watch has a boy commander, some bastard son of Eddard Stark’s.”

“Jon Snow?” she blurted out, surprised.

“Snow? Yes, it would be Snow, I suppose.”

AFFC, Alayne II

Apart from Sansa being reminded of the one brother that is conveniently and consistently absent from her narrative, it also serves as a gotcha for Myranda and the reader. Why does Alayne Stone, a bastard trained with the faith in the Vale, know about Eddard Stark’s bastard son’s name, or more even, why is she concerned with him rather than a new high septon being appointed? Because she’s not Alayne Stone, she’s Sansa Stark. And suspicions confirmed for the Royces that she’s a Stark and for us, that the Royces know that she’s a Stark.

Which leads on to the theory that the Royces are going to be instrumental in getting Sansa out of the vale and into White Harbour at least.

There might be a question of her red hair peeking from under the dyed brown ones and Septas do veil sometimes (Cersei describes Septa Moelle’s white hair so I’m guessing that a full head veil or veiling even for devout women is uncommon in Westeros but not unseen of?) so that saves her from scrutiny. But even if she dresses up as a Septa, that might still spark interest up north, since those are not the gods they subscribe to. And I’m sure Sansa would take care to dye her fast-growing hair brown before an important tourney. So the peeking red hair might be an issue when Sansa is North, in deep Bolton territory, which might urge her away from Winterfell and Dreadfort and Hornwood and squish her right between those territories, right next to the long lake and that would prove the girl in grey theo- *gunshots*

#sansa does mention the hair dye is from tyrosh and shes starting to run out #but also its so funny how LF tells her to learn about the noble houses in the vale and she does ! knows everyones words and sigils #but barely fleshes out the alayne character #which like.... how do all the "sansa is losing herself she's alayne now" misread that situation? #also myranda asking her if LF really has a little finger..... she KNOWS thats not his real daughter #she KNOWS he is interested in her sexually #like a new daughter appears who looks suspiciously like catelyn tully (petyr told everyone for decades that he took her virginity) #who is wearing lysa arryn's old clothes taking care of lysa arryn's son and fulfilling the role of the lady of the household #so myranda is trying to figurd out if LF is sleeping with her/ where her loyalties lie #that entire conversation is genius #i like to believe that she's charmed by sansa's obvious innocence and how she takes care of sweetrobin (myranda likes an underdog) #and that myranda's interests align with sansa #because the vale arc is setting up to be so interesting #i mean she could dress up as a septa and still be the girl in grey? arent their robes grey or sth? lol
