This Ring is Shield

Summary: As far as the others knew, Warriors' ring was just something he wore to make sure other people didn't flirt with him to much. What they don't know is that Warriors technically married and that the platonic nature of his marriage actually greats work for both him and his wife. It should have been easy to explain the nature of his marriage but in truth, he's just tired. He's tired of the comments, tired of the advice he didn't asked for, and tired of the pity.

Summary: The Hero of Warriors just wanted to reunite with his brothers, so he asked Lana to help him. When he stepped through the portal she made, he found that he wasn't anywhere near his brothers. In fact, he found that the only other person on the mountain he ended up on was… also the Hero of Warriors?

THOU SHALL FIND THYSELF: The Journey Home - Chapter 12

Fic Summary: The Hero of Warriors just wanted to reunite with his brothers, but after stepping through a portal that should have led him back home, he ended up finding another Hero of Warriors. After battling several infected monsters, the pair are still on their journey to Castletown, where they hope to find a way to finally get home. Written by myself and @catreginae

Chapter Preview:

With every step that took them farther away from Hateno and the mountains, War grew happier. It was still a bit chilly outside, there was a dense fog that would roll through occasionally and the winds weren’t helping the air warm up, but it wasn’t snowing. Anything falling from the sky was rain, and War was grateful for it. The warmer clothes also helped, it was nice not feeling like he was freezing down to his bones.

He did miss the stable dog, even if Warriors hadn’t been a fan of her. She was a sweet creature, and it was nice to play with a dog again after he hadn’t seen one in so long, though he was glad she hadn’t caused any problems after Captain had taken her away. Warriors was able to eventually settle down for the night and sleep with the rest of them, and War had thought it might be nice to let him sleep in so he hadn’t woken him when most of the others had gotten up. His friend was probably completely healed, but War was worried that maybe there was something still wrong with his head and well… Extra sleep couldn’t hurt him. And the extra time gave him an opportunity to work on the scarf for the little knit horse he’d given him, and when Warriors had woken up, the fact that Sky was still snoring a few beds down was seemingly a good enough excuse as to why War hadn’t woken him.

War wasn’t usually one to be alright with late starts, he got a bad feeling about wasting so much day time, but he was starting to be able to relax a little and found that the additional time to himself before the day truly began put him in a better mood for the rest of it. He had a nice breakfast and lunch at the stable, got to pet the dog goodbye, and his lungs weren’t bothering him too much anymore so he was easily able to keep up with the group as they travelled for hours towards Faron.

It’d been a blessedly boring day, with only one small interruption of a lone bokoblin that’d gotten a bit lost, but it was quickly dealt with and they’d kept traveling until the sun had set and it was time to make dinner and set up camp for the evening. War was a little sad they hadn’t found a town, he really should just buy his own bedroll at this point, but he found a nice corner in the small area that they stopped in to set up his things and get some alone time before bed.

Warriors shoved his mask and gloves into his bag but he didn’t get any further than that before he suddenly stood up. “I’ll be back. Don’t worry about me,” Warriors announced as he stood up and disappeared into the treeline.

“That’s not weird or strange at all,” Legend said carefully as he watched him.

“I hope he’s okay,” Hyrule said with a frown. “His magic is… off.”

Thou Shalt Not Fall: WIP

“Oh, yeah, good thinking. It’s weird trying to hold onto him with a leg missing,” Twilight said with a frown. He had a good grip on Warriors’ left leg, but he only had about half his thigh left on the right and Twilight’s hand had to sit closer to Warriors’ hips to avoid touching the stump. “What even happened to it, War?” “Got crushed,” Warriors answered quietly. “I don’t even the boot is salvageable. That’s the part I’m most upset about.” “Not your leg?” Sky asked, raising his eyebrow. “Well... I’ve been pretty curious about regenerating limbs. It should regenerate, I had two legs when I got cursed, but I was thinking of using a finger to test that out, not my leg. Don’t have a choice now, though.” “But you’re still upset with about the boot?” Twilight asked with a frown. “If my leg comes back before I go back to my era, I’ll have one boot!” Warriors exclaimed as he squirmed in annoyance, suddenly much more alert than he was before. “I would probably have to buy a pair from an another era or something but even then, I’ll have to try them on at the store! I would still have to get to the store!”

Today I made Wars, the truth is that it's being fun to draw from my computer, but I prefer my phone, who knows, maybe I'll buy a graphics tablet or something like that...

Looking at this chapter again, I think I got stuck because part of it takes place on the ALTTP Death Mountain with all of the falling rocks. There's an old man who lives in the cave there and I saw stuck his granddaughter with him. I think I just had a hard time writing them in particular.

I think the old man is still hanging around there once you beat the game so I don't know if I should keep him there. It might move along faster if I kicked him out of the cave but he could also help.

I might kick his granddaughter out though.

LU AU Directory Announcement

As some of you may know, I'm the person behind the LU AU Directory, which is a list of major AUs for the Linked Universe fandom. (It's basically a really, really long fic rec list.)

Normally, in May, I spend several hours scouring Ao3 for new AUs that have been posted over the last year. (In this case it would be 2025-2026.) However, I don't have the time to manually sort through that many fics on Ao3 because I'm moving 1,700 miles in a month.

So I'm asking for a little help for the 3rd edition of the directory.

If you know of an AU that's been posted on Ao3 that you think deserves a spot in the directory, please let me know by sending me an ask! Anon is on so you don't have to worry about giving away your main blog.

Rules/FAQ:

The AU has to be posted on Ao3.

The AU has to affect all characters (ex: a mer AU has everyone be a mer, not just Legend).

You can suggest your own AUs.

Submissions are open until July 1st, EDT.

Please provide a link to the AU, not just the title.

You can leave commentary on why you like an AU or a silly award/superlative you think it deserves.

Feel free to reblog this post to spread awareness.

After the captain and Warriors had both properly dried off and calmed down, and once all the others had come back to Wild’s house after wandering around all day, War couldn’t avoid talking about the mountain anymore. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell them, the whole thing just felt incredibly strange and he was still struggling to process that he did have magic. Being plagued by visions was just a bit much for him to handle in addition to the magic thing. It hadn’t been the most pleasant experience either, his head had hurt badly, and it’d felt significantly worse after trying and failing to heal Captain.

Which was another thing he really needed to unpack at some point… but right now his focus needed to be telling the others about heading to Faron.

Wild, goddesses bless him, thankfully brought up the topic for him once they were all gathered around the main living space for dinner. He didn’t say much, leaving it to War to explain, but he got everyone’s attention and set it up so that he just had to explain what he saw and tell them that Wild assumed it was Faron and they should head there.

“You see shit?” Wind raised an eyebrow at him, and Sky behind him lightly smacked the back of his head, cutting him off from saying the heavily implied, “Are you… sane…?”

Bird watching kicked my fucking ass today. Somehow, I can home with a migraine.

But!

I saw a prothonotary warbler! They're kind of rare to see in Canada because they like swamps and floodplains. I've been wanting to see this dude for years. I've seen the two warblers I've always wanted to see at this point, so now everybody else is a bonus.
