If we are interested in carousel cabaret, are we allowed to make our own ocs (ponies) ?? It's ok if not i was just curious !!
time to adress this common question I get here then!
“CAN I make a carousel cabaret OC/persona/self insert?”
The short awnser is YES: but…I want to really emphasize some things and give guidance on how you can do this while respecting me AND my work, so some rules:
1. Please really consider if you do want to make this oc/persona/self insert directly based on my carousel cabaret and its attached lore, with whatever knowledge you have attached on it: this art/characters/world building are in constant construction. I’m not afraid to retcon, edit, or do very big changes on this project as nothing about it is set in stone; so some canon information may change at any time and it’s something you might have to adapt your characters to if you decide to follow canon still.
2. that being said it’s also attached to kink and ponyplay themes and to create anything original to you based in this means you fundamentally need to recognize you are about to make a character that is associated with these themes. So act according. No underage characters.
Do you NEED to make said character be INTO ponyplay, or participate in that? No not at all, the only ones actually participating in that kink subset are the main 8 characters I depict, anyone else not in that relationship aren’t canonically involved in ponyplay automatically, they can be but it’s not like, a requirement to joining the carousel and working there to BE into ponyplay or petplay, it’s like any erotic club and functions similar to a stripclub but more broad entertainment wise.
3. I have a heavy, heavy, heavy preference that the character you make, following the canon of CC, be larger and not thin: meaning fat, chubby, muscley, stocky or all of the above; anything but thin- “but what if my character will be a persona or self insert and I’m thin?”
I’ve been asked before if in this situation it’d be offensive or not to make a self insert or persona fat to fit the canon and my awnser was: I would not find it weird at all as a fat person, and would kind of perfer it over making the character skinny. Especially for a self insert, I find much less reason for a self insert to be skinny for this.
As for a persona, I’ll pose the question: is it necessary that you do a persona over a self insert/oc? I’m all for people having fun, but sometimes, when being a thin person, it’s good to recognize when to sit something out to respect the original intentions, focus, and representation of an original work made by someone else. Just food for thought.
4. I don’t own the concepts of carousels or ponyplay, you don’t HAVE to make a character be an oc for the carousel cabaret and you can in fact just have inspiration from me: however, I can always tell when people are taking more then just a dollop of inspiration… if you take HEAVY inspiration from me I’d love to be tagged, mentioned properly (properly spelled username) and in general I just like see what people interpret my art as a source as… it’s fun! So show me!
5. If you want to do something like: draw a CC oc in the format as I’ve done my original ‘now showing’ posters, with the same text and borders n decorations etc, please do NOT trace any elements of my original artwork WITHOUT my explicit permission (this goes for any of my art and artstyle). Even though it’s just decoration, that is still my work, and I need to know what you plan to do with my work.
6. Unless you’re making something or have gotten a design from me purposefully inspired by CC and not following the lore of it exactly, please don’t defang my work and the inherently nsfw nature of it. If you are DIRECTLY making and using a CC oc, purposefully following the lore, but no longer want it to have ties to ponyplay/kink/erotic themes, please either fully divorce it of my work or abandon the creation. This is something important to consider BEFORE making the character: I really don’t want people taking this character they made based in my inherently nsfw world, and then they suddenly remove the sexual aspects of it for whatever reason. Again, please recognize you are now agreeing to making a character based directly in a project with deep nsfw ties. I ask for this because I DONT want my ponies to be treated as a trendy thing, that gets around on like Pinterest or something and then minors start doing stuff with this concept not knowing the origins of these concepts. Please! Thank you!
