😼 He belonged to Trevor, who simply called him "Bro." After spoiler Detective Baxter retrieves him from the shelter and decides he deserves a real name: he goes with Chester because he is a "sexy beast." Detective Gonzalez responds with her signature deadpan that in her opinion that's the name of a cat who died a virgin

📍 Spotted on the couch when Cass calls him after lecturing the boys, in the hallway purring against Hiro who uses him as an excuse to cover Baymax's sounds, then thrown upstairs and found in the bedroom cradled in Baymax's arms being called "hairy baby" with perhaps excessive therapeutic intensity, and finally back on the couch with Cass watching Frankenstein

😼 Soft, lazy, and largely indifferent to everything happening around him until he gets dragged into it. An early design gave him rockets on his paws, later removed for reasons no one has adequately explained

📍 Spotted in the Salem cemetery, on the streets on Halloween night, in Dani's arms, on doorsteps, and wherever someone needs guidance from a person who has technically known what's going on since 1693

😼 He was a 17th-century boy who tried to save his sister from the Sanderson Sisters and was turned into an immortal black cat as punishment. He then spent roughly three hundred years waiting for someone to light the wrong candle. Eight real black cats took turns playing the role (Stimpy, Felix, Mad Cat, Clyde, Killer, Rio, Tom-Cat and 'Fraidy Cat), while complex expressions and dialogue were handled through a combination of an animatronic puppet, CGI and voice acting by Jason Marsden

The cat actor's name is King, chosen specifically for his calm nature and his ability to remain completely unbothered by whatever happens on set

😼 Never named. Always there, grows up alongside the sisters, never explained. Whether he's the true keeper of the Owens curse no one says out loud, but he knows

She doesn't approve of ridiculous names for animals, but keeps calling him Brivido Cosmico anyway, since that's the name he arrived with. Wary of strangers, hisses at anyone unfamiliar. Looks down with disdain on his owner's attempts to become a witch but, in his own way, helps her along.

😼 A contemporary review described him as: "Cosmic is a mangy, ear-chewed feline with the worst possible disposition, which he displays at all times, along with the brightest eyes. Cosmic has the attitude that humans are stupid but have to be tolerated." To achieve that ragged look, the cat actor underwent specific grooming: fur shaved in places, matted and dulled in others, one bent ear, possibly natural, possibly a prop. Nobody is entirely sure.

🐱 Peter, black and white tuxedo. Found in the rain

📍 Found mewing in the garden by Louis and Emily, right after her breast cancer diagnosis. They name him Peter. He becomes their comfort and the source of all of Wain's art.

😼 Wain drew Peter to lift Emily's spirits during her illness, often in anthropomorphic form — dressed, bespectacled, reading newspapers. The illustrations became so popular they helped change the perception of cats in Victorian England, where they were considered hostile and unsuitable as pets. Peter died in March 1898 in Wain's arms. In his own words: "He answered me as of old."

Peter is played by three different cat actors: Norbury Ackland as a kitten, Windsor Wilde as a young cat, Felix Wilde as an adult. Three cats for one soul

😼 In the second loop, when Nadia finally finds the cat and holds him, Oatmeal literally disappears from her arms as she pets him. Fan theory: Oatmeal and Horse, the homeless man, are connected and move across the same parallel realities. The cat neither confirms nor denies.

⚠️ Alan knows that the key to Nadia's heart is Oatmeal. Anyone with a cat understands.

🐱 Figaro · black and white tuxedo kitten, Geppetto's cat

📍 Spotted in the workshop, in bed with Geppetto, staring at Cleo the goldfish's bowl with questionable intentions. Accompanies Pinocchio from beginning to end without ever quite understanding what is going on. Same.

😼 Walt Disney loved him so much he turned him into a recurring character — Figaro would go on to become Minnie's cat in several subsequent short films. He was originally planned as a minor character. As often happens with cats, he took over.

⚠️ In Collodi's novel, Geppetto has no cat, while the cat appears as an adult villain — a scheming con artist working alongside the Fox. Disney chose to give the carpenter some company and reimagined him as a tiny innocent kitten instead. Understandable choice.

📍 Spotted on the sofa, in the kitchen, in the bathroom. In the normal world he belongs to Alex, after the swap he belongs to Damien. Completely unbothered by either version of reality.

😼 Director Thea Sharrock fought hard to include the cat — for her it was something missing from the French original, absolutely non-negotiable. Obviously.

🎬 A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014), Ana Lily Amirpour

🐱 Masuka, tabby and white, credited in the titles as himself

📍 Spotted from the very first scene. Passes through almost every character's hands in Bad City: Arash, his drug-addicted father, the prostitute Atti, the vampire. Silent witness to everything.

😼 Not originally in the film. The director wrote him in after a camera test where Masuka walked curiously into every unfamiliar space. On set they joked: "if you unzipped his fur, you'd find a dog inside." Online fans have dubbed him the Marlon Brando of cat actors.

😿 In real life, Masuka crossed the rainbow bridge in December 2018. Devastated by the loss of Sina Sayyah, his human, the cat never recovered and passed away shortly after. But he will live forever in our hearts and on our screens.

📍 Spotted in Dr. Euphronius's lab, on the dining room table, and during the police raid. In that last scene, he settles under a table. Observing.

😼 On set, the police "fired" using claps. To make him look scared, trainers stepped back clapping their hands. He treated every treat like it was his last. Smudge is a rescue cat, trained and rehabilitated by his handler.

🎬 Captain Marvel (2019), Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck

🐱 Goose, soriano arancio. In realtà è un Flerken

📍 Avvistato in ufficio, sull'astronave, sul cruscotto, in zero gravity. Ovunque. Come tutti i gatti. Solo che questo inghiotte il Tesseract.

😼 Apparenza: gatto domestico innocuo. Realtà: alieno con tentacoli enormi nella bocca capace di contenere dimensioni intere. Sul set era interpretato da quattro gatti reali - Reggie, Archie, Rizzo e Gonzo - ognuno addestrato per scene diverse. I tentacoli erano CGI, per fortuna.

⚠️ Nei fumetti si chiama Chewie, in omaggio a Star Wars. Nel film è stato rinominato Goose in omaggio a Top Gun. Il gatto non è stato consultato in nessuno dei due casi.

😼 Named after Oscar, a real cat from a Rhode Island nursing home with the same ability. King saw a news segment about him and it inspired the entire novel. (Romper) Dan's colleagues call Azzie his assistant. He doesn't deny it.

⚠️ In the scene where Azzie jumps on Dan's desk, he puts down a magazine — the same January 1978 issue of Playgirl his father Jack read at the Overlook in The Shining. (Instagram) Flanagan never leaves anything to chance.
