She Get It From Her Momma...
So I finally moved out of Steez house and into a cute quaint little pent house that is so perfect for me. Julian and his mother were godsends and helped me through the entire process. I’m currently trying to finish moving everything in. Remy came over last night and stayed with me for my first night since Aubrey is away on a business trip. I would have gone with him but he gave me the time off to get settled. Steez and Julian moved in all of the furniture Aubrey insisted on paying for me to get instead of letting me get it, and Julian is coming over to finish helping me unpack. My mom will be in town in a few hours and I can’t wait to catch up with her I’ve missed her so much. I was laying out my vanity when my doorbell sounded.
“I’ll get it!” I heard Remy say as I got up heading out to the living room. Julian walked through the door in a v-neck, relaxed jeans, and cole haans looking oh so fine. He smiled at Remy giving her a hug and I giggled at the face she made.
“Beautiful, how are you this morning?” He asked her and I could tell she wanted to melt, like honestly his voice should be outlawed.
“Fine, just oh so fine!” She bit her lip and he chuckled before reaching out the door and pulling this big square wrapped package with him. I raised an eyebrow at him and he shrugged coming further in the house.
“Princess P, I couldn’t resist!” I smirked before running to him and ripping off the wraping causing him to laugh. When I saw a blown up painting of my favorite picture of my father, Steez, and I; I instantly became emotional.
I gently sat the painting aside and hugged Julian. He is so sweet, and I don’t understand it.
“Thank you so much!” I sniffled into his neck and he hugged me tight rubbing my back.
“When you talk I listen… and I could tell how much your dad meant to you, so naturally when Steez said this was one of your favorite pictures of him and you’d been trying to get him to give you the picture. I figured my Princess P deserved one for her wall!” He winked at me and I playfully punched him.
“You are too much… but you literally have no idea how much this means to me!”
“Well you’re welcome, where do you want it?” I pointed to the spot and he walked over putting it up one the wall.
I went back and finished my vanity to come back out and see Remy instructing him on where to put the stuff they were unpacking. I marveled at the painting which looked exactly like the picture and told myself not to cry. That was the last picture we took before my dad died and one of the few pictures he actually genuinely smiled in. He had a gorgeous smile but he preferred to smirk, everyone always said I was his twin, even though I always felt I look more like my mother.
“You miss him a lot huh?” I nodded not looking at Julian but feeling his intent stare.
“You look just like him!” I giggled at his statement and looked at him with a smile.
“I feel like I look more like my mom.” I answered and he smirked.
“Well I get to be the judge of that myself when I go with you to pick her up.” I rolled my eyes and nudged him.
“You really don’t have to come with me!” I told him as we moved to more boxes and continued the rest of my unpacking.
“You’re right I don’t but I want to, I have to meet the amazing woman that made you!” I smirked at the fact that he says the sweetest cutest things naturally and he means them from a good place not an overstepping way. Remy whistled and I looked over in time to see her making prayer hands at him.
“Julian you have a cousin like you, since you’re an only child?” He laughed and looked at her.
“Depends you ready for a man right now, or you still want some time to be free and enjoy your travels alone?” That question made us both stop and stare at him.
“Um… I wasn’t expecting that answer, but maybe I’m not ready… just put me in the door boo ok!?” I laughed as Remy spoke and Julian nodded.
“I got you lil sis!” They fist bumped and I shook my head at them.
We finished unpacking and I made a snack for us before we head to the airport. I had called Remy and Ju in when my facetime went off.
Aubrey came on the screen and smiled.
Aub: Hey baby I miss you!
I smiled at him and rolled my eyes.
Me: You left yesterday morning and you’ll be back tomorrow!
Aub: So you don’t miss me?
I giggled at the sad face he made and feigned innocence.
Me: You know I miss my big baby!
He smiled and got a devilish look on his face.
Aub: I can’t wait to come through and christen your crib!
Me: Behave, my mother will be here or did you forget?
Remy snorted as Ju came back in the kitchen from the restroom.
Me: I’m not about to play with you, as long as my mother is in my home I’m not sleeping with you.
I stated matter factly and he pouted.
Aub: Why you gotta be such a good girl, mom dukes know what grown folks do.
Me: I’m about to hang up on you!
I laughed moving like I was going to end the call.
Aub: Ok baby I’m done, don’t take that pretty face away just yet I’m having withdrawls!
Remy: Oh god really Chunk!?
Remy came to stand in the screen and they mugged each other.
Aub: Don’t hate cause you single monkey!
Remy: Not hating… it’s still just a little weird to see a woman getting you to act like this!
Aub: Not just any woman, my woman!
I smiled and laughed as Remy rolled her eyes again.
She flipped her hair and went back to her snack as Ju chuckled. Aub gave me a look that I could but couldn’t read before he spoke.
I nodded as Julian came into the camera.
Aubrey nodded schooling his features, my baby is so possessive when it comes to Ju.
Aub: Just making waves in this business world, you know how it goes. Thanks for helping My LADY move in!
I doubt that anyone missed the emphasis he put on my lady.
Ju: Don’t mention it bro, I’d do anything for Princess P!
Remy snorted as Ju gave a salute with two fingers and went to sit beside Remy and steal something off her plate.
Aubs had that look on his face like he wanted to say something smart but was refraining.
Me: I love you honey bunches!
He smirked at me and gave me the I’m gonna tear it up when I see you look.
Aub: My cup runneth over with love for you babygirl!
Me: You are the cutest thing!
We smiled at each other as I cleaned the kitchen.
Steez: Yo y’all sickening!
Steez came through the door from another room I guess as I looked at the screen and he winked at me.
He rolled his eyes at the nickname I gave him after his hulk episode.
Steez: Sister, Hey Ju and Remy… when does Mommy #2 get in?
Me: One hour we’re about to head to the airport in a minute to go get her.
He held up three fingers and I nodded being rewarded with a displeased look.
Steez: Can you ask if she’ll make my fave meal, I miss that woman’s cooking!
Me: You are fat and spoiled but yea I’ll ask her when we go to lunch.
I talked to them a little longer until it was time to go and then ended the call.
I grabbed my purse and Remy grabbed hers as Ju took my keys and held the door for us before he walked us to his challenger and opened those doors for us as well. We all got in and headed to the airport. We got there with ten minutes to spare and went in to wait for her at baggage claim. Not long after she appeared on the escalator and I ran to meet her at the bottom.
“Mommy!!!!” I missed this lady so much, I probably squeezed the life out of her as I hugged her.
“My pride! Look at you, you’re glowing!” We embraced again before looping arms as I walked with her to get her luggage.
We got her bags and before we could get far Julian came to grab them. My mother smiled and hugged Remy before looking at Julian with approval.
“Remya you are so gorgeous look at you! And who is this gorgeous specimen?”
“Thanks Mama P!” Remy smiled at her.
“Mommy this is my friend Julian, Ju this is my mother Phaedra Pier!” I made the introductions when we reached the car and Ju had put her bags in.
He opened his arms for a hug that she accepted before taking her hand and kissing it.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Mrs. Pier. Now I really see where Princess P get’s her beauty, I won’t even insult you by saying you look like her sister. I prefer to just tell you how blessed and gorgeous you are in the most respectful way!” Remy swooned right along with my mother like she was just meeting him for the first time too and I laughed not believing that my mother was actually blushing.
“Well aren’t you quite the handsome charmer… and thank you, it is a pleasure to meet you as well.” My mother spoke with a bright smile.
He opened all of our doors again and got in driving us to my favorite little bistro for lunch. Erin, Anthony, Emani, and Ms. Sarah met us there. I’ve always appreciated how our moms came together to raise us as full siblings no matter the situation they were in. They handled it like grown women and Ms. Sarah allowed Steez to come to us some summers and me to come stay with them others. They embraced catching up like old friends as we went in and got a table.
“You have Butta in his feelings that he wasn’t here to take you to the airport to get your mother and Ju was!” Erin whispered to me as I shook my head laughing.
“My mother knows who my man is, he needs to chill!” Was my reply to which she snorted.
“You know how your man is!” She whispered back as we were seated with our menus.
My mother was playing with Mani and catching up with Ms. Sara while Ju and Ant talked sports and my sisters and I observed.
“He really does fit right in, and I can tell Mama P likes him already!” Remy stated causing Erin and I to look at her.
“You should have heard what he said to mom at the airport Erin, he had her and Remy’s goofy ass swooning!” I said laughing at the memory.
“Girl I bet, the man is fine and he just naturally says all the right things… and he means them!” Erin finished and we all nodded.
I was sitting between Remy and Ju with my mother at the head of the table, Ms. Sarah across from Remy, Erin in front of me and Ant in front of Ju. Ju leaned over when Ant’s attention was on ordering.
“You’re a good mixture, but I do see more of your mother in you!” I smiled and playfully punched him, causing him to hold up his hands.
“I told you!” I giggled. I felt eyes on me and looked to see my mother smirking at us.
“Anthony I am so proud of you baby, I haven’t missed a game! I always go watch them at your parent’s house, and Erin you look so beautiful sweetheart. Motherhood agrees with you!” My mother complimented as they both thanked her.
“So Julian, how did you and Porter meet?” Everyone looked at us and Ms. Sarah laughed.
“Steez introduced us at a Gala with the hopes that we would start dating, he just didn’t happen to pick up on the fact that she was already spoken for!” My sisters and I laughed at the memory as Ant and Ju chuckled.
My mother nodded, before asking her next question.
“But you still chose to be her friend?” She asked he looked at me before nodding.
“Yes ma’am… of course I persuaded her to go on a date with me first, and Aubrey wasn’t having it which I respect, she’s a very beautiful and intelligent woman that any man would be blessed to have by his side. We hit it off and I respect that she loves her man and is a faithful woman. Hopefully one day I get one like her!” He winked at me and now I’m blushing.
All the women at the table awed and Ant joked with him.
“Now I feel like I have to say something sweet, Baby you are gorgeous and an amazing mother and I am blessed to have a woman like you by my side… I can’t wait to marry you!” Him and Ju shook up and we all laughed.
Lunch was filled with laughs and family and I am so excited to have my mommy here for a few days! Ju took us back to my pent house and saw us in before kissing my cheek and telling me he would text me before saying bye to everyone. Remy left not long after getting ready to head off to her next destination shoot. My mother stood looking at the picture I got this morning.
“Where did you get this?” I could hear the emotion in her voice as I came to stand beside her.
“Ju had it blown up and painted for me, because he remembered it’s my favorite picture of Daddy.” My mother smirked embracing me.
“Julian is something else… he’s being very respectful and far from shady, but a blind person can see he’s very much taken with you!” I looked up into her all knowing eyes and shook my head.
“We’re just friends ma!”She nodded.
“For now, but let Aubrey screw up… and that man is first in line!” I laughed at her statement as we changed into PJ’s and snuggled up on my couch to watch chick flicks and eat take out for dinner. I was in the kitchen making us fruity drinks when my Facetime went off again right on time.
“Ma can you get that?” I yelled from the kitchen grabbing the drinks and heading to my living room.
Aubrey came on the screen and his eyes got wide before smiling.
Aub: You get more gorgeous every time I see you Mrs. P!
My mother laughed before dazzling him with a smile.
Mom: Thank you Aubrey how are you, you’ve definitely changed since the last time I saw you!?
Aubrey nodded and smiled back.
Aub: I’m amazing, and yes ma’am I grew a beard!
Mom: It suits you, will I be seeing you for dinner tomorrow?
Steez: Him and me too Ma!
I rolled my eyes laughing at Steez eager ass.
Mom: Ah my oldest child, how are you Emilio?
My mom always fondly called Steez by his middle name.
Steez: I’m good ma, I missed your cooking though… did babygirl ask if you could make my fave?
Mom: She didn’t have to I know you well!
Mom: I love you too Emilio, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow Aubrey!
Aub: Likewise, I hope you don’t mind if I bring my mother?
Mom: Of course not I can’t wait to finally meet her!
I sat down and Aubs eyes lit up as soon as he saw me, making my mother laugh.
I blushed at the way he said it like he hasn’t seen me all day.
Aub: I still miss you, I can’t wait to see you tomorrow! Mrs. P is it ok if I sleep over tomorrow, I have to snuggle with my lady to sleep good!
He gave her puppy eye making her laugh and we both shook our heads.
Mom: Y’all are grown but it’s cute that you asked, if she wants you to sleep in her bed that’s her decision I’m a guest in her house!
Steez: Now ask me the same question AG!
We all laughed and I smiled at my family.
Aub: Baby can I stay with you tomorrow, mom said it’s ok!
Aub: I’m a man… I’m your man!
Aub: I can make you feel better!
We laughed and I glared at him.
Aub: Ok I’ll be good, I just wanted to hear your voice before we call it a night… I love you lady!
I smiled at him feeling my heart flutter like it always does.
Me: My cup runneth over with love for you baby!
Aub: That’s our thing now?
He raised an eyebrow and I nodded.
We smiled at each other and Steez playfully rolled his eyes as my mother nudged me with a smirk.
Aub: Goodnight gorgeous Pier women, enjoy your mother daughter time, I can’t wait to spend quality time with you all tomorrow!
Me/Mom: Goodnight Aubrey! Goodnight Steez!
“Girl what did you do to that man?!” I laughed at the face my mother gave me before she startled me looking low.
“Ma what are you doing?” I asked confused.
“I gave birth to you, but I’m just making sure your girl down there isn’t glowing gold!” I literally died laughing at this crazy woman.
“It’s not that’s just how Aubrey is with me.” She put her hand up and I laughed giving her a hi-five.
“That is exactly how your father was with me from the very beginning. He was a womanizer and I knew it so I wouldn’t talk to him until l knew he was no longer with Sarah Beth or anyone else, but he switched up so quick for me. I feel like he loved me more than he loved himself of course until you came along and then I gladly shared the love with you; and Steez was always his pride. There is so much of him in Emilio.” I could hear the love and hurt in her voice. I laid my head on her shoulder and she squeezed me.
We talked about life, fashion, what little sports we knew, and relationships before falling asleep on the couch. I missed my mother so much…
I made a promise and I plan to keep it… I will finish this. Thanks for sticking it out with me lovelies!!!
