this blog is still very much in my heart, but i’m going to be real honest : my mental health isn’t the best recently, which is rough because that means being here is hard, especially due to the intensity and the harsh topics that i do tackle here. i do not want to sacrifice that, her toxicity &. how badly she treats other people + how badly people in her canon treat her, doing that is not realistic and is an injustice to coraline and to who she becomes, she deserves to be written authentically. so please know that this verse is on a hiatus in terms of writing, but maybe a few musing posts here and there.

YOUNG JUSTICE V BASICS : i’m too lazy to write a full on verse post, so here are some put together bullet points. honestly it still tells the story of her right, and i just wanna hurry up and put a starter out there / reblog some stuff so i can answer in this verse.

“I mean, it’s not ‘blaze of glory,’ ‘end up on the news’ type’a stuff. I dunno, it’s just not cool, it’s not something people would really care or talk about.” Their first death was falling down a flight of stairs and cracking their head open, so they think that they would like something a little better than that.
They do eye her snack, though, and they can’t help but be a little jealous of it. “…But it looks good, anyway.”
❛ blaze of glory death ? that’s only a thing if you’re in the military or a superhero or some shit ❜ the syrup is in palms, lazily holding the bottle above the mountain of cavities and with no sense of purpose, the only goal is to cover as much as the surface of possible across the thick layer of cream. the bottle is pushed aside when satisfied with the result, picking up a fork on the table, pointing it in apolo’s direction as she speaks ❛ and the ones who make the news... they only make the news because a mass following already give a fuck about them, the rest of us die quietly... you know how when you go out to the country side, you hear the symphony of crickets ? that’s normal people dying, nobody gives a fuck about a singular one because it all blends together ❜ how many ways has she died already ? overdose, fighting, suicide... it was all the same, nobody ever noticed, not that she ever really cared about being remembered, sometimes it stung, but it was good nobody caring, not being missed means leaving out the awkward conversation of why she suddenly walks with the land of the living again. a forkful of cream is in mouth again, resting fork in mouth as she ruffles around the table for more cutlery, sliding the spare spoon over to the other. a response that’s silent, ‘it is good, here,’ adjusting the food to sit more evenly between them ❛ what would you conciser a cool death, anyway ? falling in a lions den at the zoo ? ❜

might make a gifset of different characters magic and stuff and make a headcaon post about cora’s. iit’s still majorly in the work, but dc is a perfect verse for coraline to explore her magical abilities in the fullest.
in the main verse, she doesn’t like to acknowledge her magic whatsoever because it freaks her out. being connected to crimson and the creator is something she rejects, because by rejecting she’s maintaining some level of control. it’s not until future timelines does she embrace it, i’m not speaking when she gets the companies, either. i’m speaking when everyone she knows and loves is dead and gone and she’s roaming the earth like some sort of zombie, stuck at 21 but being far older than that. not being able to die makes living boring and predictable, and accepting the connection that she has is done out of self hatred and boredom. it opens a gateway, but for the most part it’s ignored until all of her friends fickle out.
but for her to explore it early on is not something done in any of them, because it doesn’t feel right - the odd spells here and there, yes - but they’re done in the traditional sense and even then it’s half arsed and not using full potential. but she is capable of instant magic and hurting people with it ( healing ? not sure yet. ) and in dc there is so much chaos going on, i can imagine coraline embracing the connection between the gods as a way to protect herself. with darkseid and the existence of apokolips and their villains, the daughter of fear, chaos and destruction has to have the upper hand in those scenarios, especially as they’d probably sense an ancient old darkness in her that not even they could match.
she’d be pretty overpowered, so what canon would have if she were a real character and what i’d write is different. but i really wanna stay true to the purgatory concept : death is IT, creation is creator, and purgatory is coraline, they balance each other out, the perfect tightrope, a fucked up nuclear family that is created by the natural order.
and honestly... the thought of coraline going to toe goddamn toe with crimson in an epic battle ? oh oh oh ... c’mon, you can’t tell me that isn’t the fucking best, she couldn’t kill them, but she could put them in a long time out... and if that moment happened, crimson would come back pissed of and so goddamn proud - finally, showing what she is.

❛ man, listen. nothing matters, which means embarrassing moments don’t exist ❜ she doesn’t know if it’s helpful and it probably isn’t given that coraline is... well, coraline. her talents lied more in standing in the back and dropping snarky comments just to annoy the rest of the room, that’s pretty much where it ended. but regardless, the words come from a place of kindness, an offering of something and a gesture she’d never thought she’d ever be able to do, looks like even when she’s done it all there are little moments where coraline still manages to shock herself ❛ y’just gotta learn not to give a fuck. ❜
