A massive thanks goes out to Maša Barišić for the cow illustration and one more image added to the Balkan Floods Library!
We've been asked a few times since publishing the page and blog what Cause.works and Balkan Floods actually are - this is the answer:
Cause.works is an initiative, it is a project that will build a platform for anyone in the world to create their own cause campaigns (charity or awareness campaigns), it will provide templates and resources for this and will make it easy and straightforward.
Cause.works will test and build the platform upon actual projects, the first of which is Balkan Floods.
Under the Balkan Floods banner, we will create and/or collect a number of products like t-shirts, prints etc. which we will sell and donate the proceedings to the Red Cross, to be used for the rejuvenation of areas devastated by the floods.
After the inital phase we will evolve Balkan Floods to a travelling auction-exhibition, one-time magazine and monograph.
We hope this explanation helps and makes things clearer but as this is still a fledgling project, things are still not that defined and set in stone and we are open to suggestions and feedback.
Cheers,
Cause.workers
Attached to this announcement you will find a flowchart of the project, it might make things even more clear.
A big thank you goes out to Marija Juza and Nikola Gjurek, of the Typonine type foundry for donating #balkan sans! We will use it in the best possible way, for the Balkan Floods charity project!
First shirt drafts for the #balkanfloods project #charity #shirt #shop. We're almost there...
Here you can find informations on how to help people affected by massive floods in Balkan.
Donations
We are currently working on securing donations for the first line of t-shirts to be made and sold at the Dan D Festival in Zagreb.
We have been offered hosting, silkscreening, have been promised a 1000hrk donation from the Zajednički Put Foundation, have set up shop at Big Cartel and are currently trying to acquire the shirts. If anyone would be willing to offer shirts as a donation we would be much obliged and will add them to the list of sponsors on both the blog and webshop.
The first flowchart for the Balkan Floods Project.
The Balkan Floods Shop is being set up. Soon it will be up and running.
Cause.works is a community project that aims to create an open-source platform for the creation and implementation of DIY cause campaigns and product-based charity.
Cause.works will set up shop with the Balkan Floods initative spearheaded by a set of sub-activities and products relating to the exchange of artistic and creative artefacts for donations. A model we hope to standardise as a means for cause-related transactions.
The first project, being released to the world at the Dan D (D Day) festival in Zagreb at the end of May, is a blog/shop that will collect one color designs for silkscreen t-shirt printing and exchange them for donations.
Cause.works is still in it's infancy, but will soon mature enough for much more information. Stay tunes.
Cheers, Cause.workers
