her slim frame was moving along to the sound of the music coming from the speakers. daisie had a long week & now that it was the weekend she could finally shed herself from the pencil skirts, tight button up blouses & ditch the old lady heels. of course, daisie loved her job more than anything but she had just wishes that it were a job she had gotten herself & not something that was simply handed to her. but that’s what her life was like the moment she was born. despite her father’s feelings toward her, he was only ever wanting what was best for her career, not her life, her CAREER. he wanted her to make it big in the company, to take over the family legacy & do great things with it. but here she was, downing drink after drink, allowing hands to grope her slender hips as she moved along to the beat of the music. wanting to FORGET all about how shitty her life actually was behind closed doors. her father had been pushing her further & further over the edge, which was where the alcohol came into the equation. letting a sigh escape her lips, she moved back toward the bar to order herself another drink only to spot an all to familiar figure to her right. “ oh hey, didn’t realize you were here. couldn’t have saved me from that sweaty balled guy back there? ” she mused, before ordering herself another drink.

weekends were tedious for mateo. the lack of structure made everything float around him, and there was something to be said about the way that he seemed to lack control without things like his classes and studio time to set him down a singular path. these were the moments where mateo always slipped: when his options seemed vast. the party he was at was pretty exclusive, which meant that the scenery was homey enough for him to comfortably lounge on the couch of the boujee upper new york apartment he had been invited into–for the sake of a good time, perhaps, or the sake of having around a guy like mateo, who’d be near-paralyzingly high but calm and watchful all at once. in characteristic fashion, and to keep himself from being amped up and subsequently freaked out by the presence of someone else’s warmth gathering beside him, mateo flung his arm over the back of the couch and, with clenched fingers, pulled himself more upright. “hey,” he croaked, a small smile gracing his features for a split second. “i’d ask if you just got here, but this ‘apartment’ is so fucking huge that i wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve been around.”

Mason was wasted. Beyond wasted, really. On his way to black out, easy. He had thrown a party at his mansion, exhausted by the endless silence, and though he’d never admit it, the loneliness that came with. Stumbling outside into the cool night air, he took a deep breath. He still had a black eye from his fight the previous night, it bloomed across his features in purple and black and blue. Fishing around in his jean pockets, he located a lighter and pack of Marlboro’s. Despite the festivities, the party hadn’t helped. He looked around at his neighborhood, the pristine houses with the families that held so many terrible secrets. All of it phony as hell. Plastic. Sometimes, he really did hate Conyers Farm, more than anything else in his life. Lighting up, he took a deep inhale, not noticing the figure that stood just inches away, he muttered to himself, “fuck this.”
