Branson's chart has a Rodden rating of A and is shown in sidereal Lahiri ayanamsa above. Whole sign houses kiddos. https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Branson,_Richard Branson's 22° Cancer rising chart has the eighth lord Saturn conjunct the bhava madhya of the second house showing easy gains of wealth also aspects the 4th of property, eighth house of speculation, 11th house of income and money from side ventures. Note also that Saturn is also the lord of death and obstacles. 10th lord Mars conjunct the third house gives tremendous drives to his plans and initiatives and to the other houses it aspects, sixth, ninth and tenth. Current dasha is Jupiter/Mercury. In the natal chart, Mercury is afflicted aspected by Rahu from the ninth house. This also explains his phenomenal wealth and interest in technology, but though Rahu can give great materialistic gains they are also fickle. Mercury in the first house links and connects to his life and vitality. Rahu's aspect is dangerous in this respect. Branson has made and lost many fortunes but Saturn, Sun, and Moon (all in royal houses) have always kept him ahead. Jupiter in the 8th aspecting the 2nd has helped too. His risk-taking is due to the influence of 8th lord Saturn and daring Mars in the heart of the third house. The transits on that date (7.20.2019) are not promising for a routine outcome into space. See the latest picture post to see the natal and transit bi-wheel.) 6th lord of accidents Jupiter is exactly aspecting the equal bhava madhya (EBM) of the 8th, 2nd, 4th houses (4th house is conveyances). Retrograding 8th Lord of death and death like situations Saturn is applying very close conjunction to the EBM of the 6th house of accidents and the 12th house of losses. Saturn is also closely afflicting the 8th and 3rd houses too. Sudden, explosive accidents/obstructions to the whole endeavor are seen. Transiting Saturn is afflicted by transiting Ketu and the Nodal axis is laying across the 6th and 12th house axis. Transiting Ketu is closely afflicting the 6th, 10th, 12th, and 2nd houses too. Natal Mars is exactly aspecting transiting Saturn/Ketu. Transiting Moon is even opposing his natal Moon from the 8th house on that day and afflicted by natal Jupiter. Perhaps this means he won't get off the ground, or if he does the mission is in great peril I fear. A lot of sudden and unforeseen accidents are portended. If he were my client I would counsel not to do it for I think he is mortally in danger attempting this venture at this time. It's almost as if Death is tempting him. Recalling the dasha/bhukti, Rahu's trickster influence on Mercury exacerbates Branson's precarious behavior.

Okay Kids, time to load your computer screens with your sidereal chart, or take the partially read stack of books off it. Dig through your database and advise your clients and family members too. Hold on to something, a rather bumpy ride is coming up... Some imminent and serious transit afflictions are happening around transiting Saturn and Ketu (true Nodes) this summer. Ketu takes station around 23 degrees of Sagittarius the first week of July joined by Saturn. I've spoken before about this Saturn/Ketu conjunction. Personal notable events for some of you and also note that significant mundane events are poised to follow as well, especially if these planets are weak and/or badly placed. Also, transiting Mars/Mercury gets caught up in the Rahu/Ketu axis between June 11th and 15th so it would be best to avoid nonessential travel and use caution to avoid accidents and confrontations by being extra alert and patient. From June 16th through the second week of July Mercury and Mars are entangled as they advance through Gemini and Cancer and it will be a troublesome period for those born under the signs of Aries, Taurus, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Aquarius. If you are a Scorpio like me take special precautions as the conjunction plows through the 8th house of obstacles and difficulties from June 16th to the 21st or so. (Whole sign houses BTW). The prelude to this mentioned above, Mars crashes the Nodal axis beginning on June 11th and Mercury a few days later on the 15th. Coborns are vulnerable too. Could there be more? oh yes, on June 15th through the 18th the Mercury/Mars conjunction is caught up in the Nodal axis and under Saturns very negative seventh house aspect (opposition). Those born under the signs of Cancer, Virgo and Pisces are particularly vulnerable then. Be well.

Astro Star News May 12, 2018 Special Report: Mars in Capricorn

Hey Everyone, sorry I have not posted in a very long time. Personal life has been very busy. I apologize for the technical nature of the article and you will need your sidereal, or Hindu/Vedic birth chart handy to follow and benefit from this news.

Transiting Mars has just entered its exaltation sign of Capricorn on May 3rd, and will remain in this sign for some months, through early November. I wouldn’t ordinarily be to concerned for Mars transiting a sign as the influence is generally a few days to a week as it influences a sensitive point in a horoscope.

This transit assumes significance because simultaneously the South Node of the Moon, or Ketu, is transiting Capricorn along with Mars as well. Ketu will afflict Mars by conjunction on a number of occasions, especially in the month of June. Ketu’s affliction to Mars causes accidents, injuries, muscular problems and other health issues.

Those with the signs Gemini, Leo and Aquarius rising need to take special care as this malefic conjunction takes place in dusthana houses.

For Gemini ascendants the conjunction takes place in the eighth house of accidents and obstructions. For Leo ascendants the conjunction takes place in the sixth house of financial setbacks, health and injuries. For Aquarius ascendants the conjunction takes place in the twelfth house of hospitalization and losses.

For those with Taurus, Scorpio or Virgo ascendants this could be a challenging period because Mars is a functional malefic planet for these rising signs.

The conjunction of Mars with Ketu happens three times! On June 6th, July 20th and September 26th.

Mars’ stationary periods when it is changing direction can be very troublesome when it falls on a sensitive point in the horoscope. Those born under the ascending signs of Taurus, Virgo and Scorpio the prolonged stationary transit periods can cause difficulties when it hovers around the badhya madhya of a house, or if a natal planet planet is close to these degrees points in Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Leo. The weaker the afflicted natal planet is in the birth chart, the greater degree of adverse effects to be expected.

From the 14th of June, 2018 through 10th July, 2018 Mars’ influence affects on those who have their ascending degree around 14 degrees.

From the 19th August, 2018 through 6th September, 2018, Mars’s influence will affect those who have their ascending degree around 4 degrees.

Joint US & South Korea Military Maneuvers to start the 21st.

Each year the US and South Korean military forces hold very in-your-face joint war games towards North Korea and China. North Korea has always viewed these as very inflammatory. Regardless of the recent sabre rattling rhetoric between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the joint military exercises will go ahead as planned.

The military exercise starts on the Monday the 21st, the day of the solar eclipse. The whole of the astrological body is waiting with bated breath on this one, as almost all hold this is the most inauspicious of times to do anything military.

As I mentioned in the previous The Great American Eclipse blog, the solar eclipse falls on top of President Trump’s volatile natal Mars. In the chart for North Korea, it falls right on natal Saturn, which will disrupt North Korea’s international relations even further adding to North Korea’s angst.

Regardless, the North Korean nuclear threat to international peace had to be confronted sooner or later. It seems to have been fated to be the pugnacious Trump administration.

The most precarious timing of a solar eclipse is really when the Sun is exactly conjunct one of the Moon’s Nodes. In this case the Sun conjoined Rahu on the 16th ahead of the actual Sun/Moon conjunction. As the Sun in in sidereal Leo now, it will gain strength quickly and perhaps the most sensitive time is past us since North Korea has since said they will no longer fire missiles into the waters off of Guam. The joint military exercises are scheduled to continue through the 31st, which interestingly coincides with President Trump’s  Mars return. Concerning to many is that Mercury is retrograde during this whole time. What snafu could possibly happen with an unbridled hawkish president combined with a paranoid dictator?

All sides must use extreme caution and discernment as any small mistake could lead to escalations and/or dire confrontations.

Tensions will remain high through the first two weeks of September as stationary Ketu is still afflicting the US natal Mars.

August Skies, 2017 A short but difficult time...

The Sun is going to ingress into the sidereal sign of Leo on August 16th. The transiting Sun is under the close influence and affliction of the Moon’s Nodes from the 16th through the 19th of August. During this period the Sun lacks strength and is an especially vulnerable time for those born with Virgo, Pisces and Capricorn rising signs. Use extra caution when traveling and in matters of health.

August Skies, 2017 Special Edition: The Great American Eclipse

The American Solar Eclipse on the 21st occurs at sidereal 5°of the royal sign of Leo and is one of the most looked to astro events in decades. For most it will be one of the most exciting celestial events of their lifetime. A lunar eclipse always occurs about 2 weeks before or after a solar eclipse. On some occasions, a lunar eclipse can be both preceded and followed by a solar eclipse.

Astrologically, eclipses mostly affect the large scale, that is, they affect countries where they occur and those running them. During an eclipse, the Moon's Nodes are conjunct and afflicting the Sun and Moon. That is why eclipses usually have a negative effect. Unless you have a sensitive point in your personal horoscope that is conjunct or opposed by the eclipse degree, don’t expect the eclipse to affect your life much, if at all. The orb on an eclipse point should be kept very tight, one or two degrees at most.

As most students of astrology well know, the eclipse conjuncts Donald Trump’s Leo Mars and ascendant and the fixed star Regulus. It will definitely impact him strongly in the coming months and years. Regulus has been called the “Royal Star” since antiquity. To put the eclipse in an astrological predictive nutshell, any persons with regal status by office or actual royalty are in store for some major life changes in the next few years. Interestingly, the eclipse falls on French President Macron’s natal eighth house Saturn. That’s enough for another article in and of itself. Perhaps later, it’s hard enough keeping pace with US politics.

Aside from being just a conjunction of the Sun and the Moon, this eclipse event is actually a complex astrological puzzle with a number of astro players that plug into it. First of all let’s analyze the eclipse itself in more detail as the solar eclipse sets the stage. The eclipse takes place in the Nakshatra (Lunar Mansion) of Magha. Magha is ruled by Ketu and as such there is a sudden and unexpected element to the effects of this eclipse. Magha is also ruled by the Pitris, or the ancestors, and is the place of the throne and connects its energy to the past and the passing of power and possessions to the next generation. From a throne a king can help the people, but also a king has to fight to retain his throne and power. A throne is also is place of intrigue and battle capable of causing destruction and death.

The other players: The Lunar Eclipse on the 7th is a partial one and takes place at sidereal 21° Capricorn. It will not be visible in North America. The Cancer Sun conjunct a debilitated Mars during this lunar eclipse indicates an already brooding and moody leadership going into the Solar Eclipse on the 21st. Trust is at a low point with the sitting government in its leader. Note that as of this writing Senators will hold pro-forma sessions during their summer recess to prevent President Donald Trump from firing and replacing anyone during break.

Mercury turns retrograde on the 12th in Leo at 17° Leo. This station of Mercury is a reminder on a personal level to re-evaluate priorities at work, how you connect with others and fitness routines. Watch finances and put off any aggressive investments until the second week of September.

The important thing to watch with this retrograde Mercury relating to the eclipse is that on September 3rd, Mars is going to conjunct Mercury, two days later Mercury turns stationary direct. Both of these celestial events happen exactly conjunct the solar eclipse degree within half a degree of arc! Often retrograde planets have a way of dredging up the past and secrets. Mercury the ruler of communication is especially indicative of past emails, conversations, secret deals and wayward monies coming into the light when going direct again. Mars is going to provide the energy for action. So, watch for things to rise to the surface and some significant events around this date.

Saturn turns stationary direct on August 25th at 27° Scorpio. Saturn is extremely weak in the late degrees of Scorpio. As Saturn crosses back into Sagittarius (ingress into Sagittarius is October 26th, 2017) it is termed Gandhanta in Hindu astrology. Gandhanta is an unfavorable condition and happens when a planet crosses over the cusp from a water to a fire sign. Through the Fall season Saturn here causes a lot of setback and frustration in global politic as well as on a personal level. Like retrograde Mercury, retrograde Saturn going direct will move that which was hidden into the open.

How to put all of this together for an interpretation? This eclipse is all about thrones and the past. Since it is taking place in royal Leo, a fixed sign, the effects will be long lasting. It will take down rulers or their equals. This eclipse is going to bring forward the unknown past and secret communications in a sudden and explosive manner in the coming months and even years.

Obviously, for the US, the impact of the eclipse on the sitting president's chart is very important. The eclipse conjuncts Donald Trump’s Leo Mars and his ascendant with the fixed star Regulus. The unknown past and secrets will surface over time and this will frustrate Trump and his administration in a negative way forcing them to fight tooth and nail to hold it together. The retrograde Mercury with Mars and their contacts with this eclipse point is potent and gives a lot of energy to those doggedly following the trail.

There are other strong challenging transits to President Trump’s chart later in the Summer and Fall. Trump’s Leo ascendant and Mars shows he’s not one to shrink from a fight. I think there is a high probability that his administration will use any means to detract attention from its own troubles, even talk of war as the President’s natal Mars is activated. Luckily, at least in the national chart I use for the USA, there is no strong activation of any critical natal positions for war right now.

The solar eclipse makes a wide conjunction to the US natal Moon, which will bring a focus to international alliances in the coming months and the public voice will become stronger on the health care debate. Personal income for the poor and middle class will still not make any traction in the near to middle future. The US progressed Moon is currently afflicted by the ruler of disputes, Saturn, coming exact on August 15th. Expect a further eroding of international alliances and image for the US coinciding close to that date. The transiting South Node of the Moon, Ketu, that has been afflicting the US natal Mars is now past exactitude, so international tensions are easing with less risk of violent actions for now. Diplomacy narrowly wins out again. Global tensions will again become high the first week of September when Mercury and Mars conjoin on the eclipse degree.

July Skies, 2017, Pt 3

The transiting Sun is closely pursuing Mars most of the month and they will both be in exact conjunction in sidereal Cancer on July 29th. Even though Mars is severely combust, this is a very energetic configuration and will activate lots of busyness with home, real estate and vehicles. Some of you will also get a boost in self confidence. Most rising signs will experience mild positive results from this conjunction, but those born under sidereal Scorpio, Virgo and Pisces should be extra cautious especially from the 22nd through the 30th.

Scorpio’s should be careful to stay out of conflicts and tread lightly in professional matters.

Virgo’s will have some financial challenges and conflicts are likely. Avoid haste, conflicts, and unnecessary expenses, especially while driving or travelling.

Taurus will encounter some losses in mental peace and trouble with domestic affairs and vehicles. Care should be exercised while traveling.

July Skies, 2017, Part 2

The Full Moon on the 9th happens in sidereal Sagittarius, while malefic Mars makes a wide conjunction with the Sun. Another interesting point about this Full Moon is that is that the Moon also conjoins Pluto at the same time. This combined configuration presents an extremely dangerous and aggressive energy for the few days before and after the Full Moon.

In personal affairs this can bring about very important news about recent transitions and milestones, especially regarding family members and other dear ones. Be aware there is a lot of tension with this Full Moon, and take all news  if it does not agree with your worldview at least stoically.

Globally this is a charged week, North Korean missile tests, President Trump’s first meeting with Putin, etc... Already tense nations will likely issue ultimatums and make rash decisions coupled with aggressive actions. Since the Moon is in Sagittarius and both the Sun and Moon are being squared by Jupiter, hopefully this will steer the energy through more judicial and diplomatic processes, such as deeper sanctions and more earnest international cooperation.

July Skies 2017, Part 1

Venus entered sidereal Taurus on June 29th and will transit this practical and luxury loving sign for most of July.  Venus is at home in Taurus and with few exceptions, this is a great month for getting out and socializing. Many of you will feel the desire to reconnect with old friends. Some will reignite past relationships as this Venus is very sensual one. One of the challenges with Venus transiting Taurus is overspending and buying things you really don’t need. The desire for the latest fashion, hip tech gear, going to the newest and most expensive restaurant etc. is the mental dare that’s hard to resist this month. Have a good time but don’t overspend.

July 18th and 19th are the best days for socializing, but cautious of being overly material.

The party is over when Venus opposes retrograde Saturn. Avoid social engagements and buying fixed and luxury goods a couple of days before and after the 24th.

June Skies 2017, Pt 3

Transiting Ketu, the South Node of the Moon will be negatively impacting the transiting Sun from Wednesday the 15th through Sunday the 18th of June 2017. Everyone should take extra care and practice patience during this time as this configuration can cause sudden health and job problems. Those born under the sidereal signs of Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces are more likely to experience stronger negative events from this transit.

Astro Star News June 5th, 2017 Trump’s Summer of Woe, Part 4

President Trump is certainly one of the most colorful figures that has occupied the oval office. There is not a day without some zinging response from his daily barrage of tweets or unconstrained diatribe on very contentious issues. I’m not sure there isn’t a class of society or international leader he hasn’t directly or indirectly insulted.

Previously predicted here that President Trump would try and deflect attention away from the investigations in early June. This week it is reported on all news services that President Trump has launched a “$1 Trillion Initiative to Fix America's Infrastructure.” It’s a smart move, especially as it coincides with former FBI Director, James Comey’s testimony on Thursday. Deflection politics? Perhaps not, but the timing is just too perfect. The positive economic impact this will have on the country will certainly get a lot of attention. The privatization plans will create a lot of controversy as well. The investigations will go on though. Like rust, it never sleeps and continues growing even under white wash.

Five months along you could understate President Trump’s time in office as tense. The month of June is the beginning of a far worse time. In the US Taurus rising chart, the progressed Sun and Venus are forming challenging aspects to natal Pluto. These are starting to be felt strongly now and will only gain in intensity as they become exact in late December of 2017.

Currently, transiting Jupiter ruler of delays, obstructions and red tape is putting pressure on the US ascendant by aspect. Once Jupiter goes direct on June 9th, the day after James Comey testifies, as previously predicted here, expect some damaging revelations to the president and/or his inner circle. Transiting Jupiter is still moving slowly, so the week following will be strained.

Transiting Saturn ruler of the administration is also being aspected by natal Mars, ruler of losses and mishaps peaks on June 17th. Heavy pressure is on the White House through early July. This aspect will come around again as Saturn is currently retrograding.

I’ve mentioned this before, anytime progressed Venus ruler of disputes and enemies contacts the US Pluto, it coincides with a war or policing action by the US military. In light of this, the talk of military intervention with North Korea is alarming. Iran is also rattling the sabre because the Trump administration is seeking additional sanctions and also blaming the US for instigating the shunning of Qatar by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and a growing list of other countries cutting diplomatic relations over its alleged support of terrorism.

Adding insult to injury, President Trump opting out of the Paris climate treaty, four separate investigations that could lead to impeachment, distancing our European allies, escalating tensions in the South China Sea and the Middle East, and now a possible full scale war may be looming in the not too distant future.

Astro Star News June 4th, 2017.

The  U.S. progressed Sun semi-squares natal Pluto in December of 2017, while the US progressed Venus, ruler of the sixth house of disputes will square natal Pluto in mid January of 2018. The influence of Pluto as these two aspects coincide are being felt now and suggests a lot of behind the scenes power plays. The unfolding and the widening of White House investigations will continue to progress over the next six months peaking before or after the Xmas break. There is also an increasing danger of military confrontations as the US progressed Venus contacts with Pluto always seem to coincide with US wars and “policing” engagements.

Transiting Jupiter turns direct on the 9th in changeable and critical Virgo. Issues and investigations that have been fermenting for the past couple of months will now start moving forward with purpose. The recent reported bombshells of treasonous ties to Russia by Jared Kushner, senior adviser and son-in-law to President Trump, is indicative of this energy and that of Pluto mentioned above. Look for some big reveals in government scandals in the weeks after the 9th.

Overall, indicators are that there will be setbacks for the US economy this summer and common working people will feel squeezed a little more. The mining industry, especially coal, will take another hit.

June Skies 2017, Pt 2

The Full Moon of June is called the “Strawberry Moon” and happens in sidereal Scorpio on the 9th. This Full Moon activates a grand trine inter-aspect that will create a tense week of fast paced social interactions. The temptation here is to get overextended in commitments and thereby disappointing others and exhausting yourself in the process. Choose meetups and obligations wisely, and only with those you truly want to be with. Administrative issues and tasks may also seem overwhelming the week of the 11th.

Jupiter also turns direct on the 9th in changeable and critical Virgo. Issues and decisions that have been fermenting in the background for the past couple of months will now become palpable to take action on, especially in admin, politics, morality, lawsuits and judicial actions. Look for some big reveals in government scandals soon after the 9th.

On a personal level, this is a good time to move ahead on financial matters and making arrangements for all matters legal.

June Skies 2017, Pt 1

The transiting Sun is forming a semi-square aspect with Venus pretty much the whole month of June. The Sun and Venus are in the the sidereal signs of Taurus and Aries respectively, creating a strong, playful and amorous tension in relationships that could also lead to a lot of little arguments and disagreements especially between newly formed partners. Before the aspect becomes exact on June 19th, the transiting Sun will move into sidereal Gemini on the 15th, and this will transform the tension produced by Aries/Taurus to a more passionate energy that needs some release. After the 16th, this is a great time for creative projects and widening your circle of friends. Be careful as this energy as can bring about flirting beyond committed relationships. Think before you leap.

Need to rekindle a romance or bring the spark back into it? The weekend of the 21st is great time to plan a romantic and passionate evening.

Avoid romantic, business meetings or social events from the 14th through the 16th as the transiting Sun opposes Saturn.

Astro Star News May 24th, 2017 Trump’s Summer of Woe, Part 3

Promised to discuss the national chart and what implications it might show towards President Trumps predicaments, but in the news reports there is confirmation of the prediction of transiting Rahu from Part II. I will post on the national chart a bit later.

Transiting Rahu will be exactly conjunct President Trump’s natal Mars late on Saturday evening, May 27th, 2017. As forecast in Part II, “Trump will further entangle himself in the Federal inquiries. Rahu's influence will make him try to manipulate the situation by tossing more half truths and lies to divert people's attention and avoid prosecution.”

 Rahu’s transit on Trump’s natal Mars ruler of general fortune and legal affairs is currently bringing a lot of pressure to bear on the President in these areas. We can see the growing duress from the news feeds.

 On Monday the 22nd CNBC reports… Former FBI Director James Comey will speak with the special counsel overseeing the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election before testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee some time after Memorial Day.

 Washington Post reported on the 23rd… “President Trump has retained the services of a trusted lawyer, Marc E. Kasowitz, to help him navigate the investigations into his campaign and suspected Russian interference in last year's election.”

 The true motion of the Nodes goes slightly stationary for a few days from the 27th through June 2nd, keeping the peak pressure on the President from this transit. Will this result in a major setback for the President in the investigations?

 At this same time transiting Mars and Saturn will be in opposition. This alignment will hardly do him any good as both planets are very weak in early degrees and Mars is afflicted by natal Rahu. If anything his popularity will dip even more and have an even stronger polarizing effect on the Hill and with the four ongoing investigations.

 All of these transits are taking place while his progressed Moon is transiting his twelfth house. Transiting Uranus, is right on his third/ninth house axis causing a lot of unexpected and sudden legal disclosures. A major revelation will come out of the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing next week, or early June regarding manipulations on the part of the White House.

Astro Star News May 19th, 2017 Trump’s Summer of Woe, Part 2

To briefly recap Part 1, Trump’s progressed Moon is moving through his twelfth house of losses and secret enemies. The last time this happened in 1989 and 1990 his loosely stitched real estate empire fell apart.

There is a lot of negative transit activity in store for President Trump in the summer and fall, but the most important is the transit of Saturn over the Moon/Ketu conjunction in the fourth house of mental peace. Saturn is a functional benefic for him, but as Saturn is slowing and going stationary as it goes direct right over his natal Moon/Ketu Saturn becomes afflicted. Emotionally, he will become very unstable. This is a long lasting and powerful configuration and will essentially make things very troublesome for the President from now through early October. Some peak dates to watch are late July, especially around the 27th. September 11th through September 15th and the very last week of September.

Stationary Ketu in zero degrees of Aquarius is putting a lot of stress on Trump’s natal Sun through the whole summer until the beginning of Fall. Inflammatory situations and erratic responses are to be expected from the President.

With Leo rising and a strong Mars Trump is going to fight back any way he can. Transiting Mars is weak and combust in the twelfth house in late July when he needs it most.
