Trigger Warning: Brief mention of past bullying
When she was young, Candy was more or less content with her parents orchestrating her life. She expected it even. That’s why when she fell in love with the clarinet and wanted to learn how to play it, she didn’t complain when her parents found a suitable tutor to teach her. And once Candy had learned how to play, her parents went on to putting Candy in a prospering band program available at her school that would allow her to stay all the way up to once she finishes high school unless she wanted out of it. They even had a side band camp program available during the summer for those who couldn’t attend during the school year, and you guessed it, Candy’s parents made sure to put her into that one too.
At first, being part of band was fine to Candy. She liked it and initially found it exciting even! But after her first few years doing it, she came to a realization that she wasn’t so crazy about band as she thought she was. If anything, Candy found it to being isolating for her, especially once she learned that none of her band mates cared about anything else besides music and band. And when Candy tried to convince her parents to be a little lenient with her band and musical activities, her parents refused! Because of that, she soon started to dislike being part of band and dreaded every summer where she was forced to attend band camp. Candy wanted an out, but she knew she couldn’t because that was against what her parents wanted and she wasn’t someone who liked to defy her parents wishes even if it was at her expense. Especially not with how much they were already investing on her and her future!
For years, Candy was all on her own when it came to her outside interests consisting of gossip, boybands, glitter, stickers and taking photos, and she thought she would stay alone until she one day met one of her lifelong friends, Grenda Strong. Oh how Candy’s life changed completely after meeting Grenda! It was with Grenda where she finally had her very first sleepover with someone. It was also with her who Candy was able to share and talk about the latest gossip with and try new things that she never gotten the chance to try. Like makeovers! Candy never knew how much fun it was to get a makeover by someone much less be able to put makeup on them in return, but it was! It was so much fun!
Candy loved being with Grenda, and it was with her is where she also learned to become more confident and outspoken. See, she was a shy and insecure girl up until she befriended Grenda, and it didn’t help that one of the most popular girls in town, Pacifica Northwest, bullied both her and Grenda throughout high school for no reason besides she thought them as losers. Candy severely disliked Pacifica, but was able to deal with her and even talk back to her every once in a while all thanks to having Grenda by her side. Honestly, Candy’s didn’t think her life could change anymore as it has with Grenda in it, but she was so very wrong about that because during the summer after their first year of high school, both Candy and Grenda met Mabel Pines. And let’s just say that meeting Mabel was like finding the final puzzle piece to their little friend group.
Mabel was a girl who loved glitter, stickers, scrapbooking, taking photos, gossiping, boybands, having wild parties and sleepovers, and talking about crushes! Everything that Candy and Grenda enjoyed and more! Candy couldn’t believe she found her second lifelong friend and wanted nothing more than have her two besties besides her forever. Which makes it always said whenever Mabel had to go back home once the summer was over. Sure, Candy would be leaving for band camp whenever that happens, but that never makes her miss Mabel any less, and so whenever summer comes back around, both Candy and Grenda becomes incredibly happy again when Mabel and her twin brother, Dipper, comes back to Gravity Falls again. But oh wow, nothing compares to the excitement Candy felt once the twins finally moved here for good!
When college came around, Candy ended up majoring in music since she knew that is what her parents wanted. And though Candy doesn’t hate music, she in fact does still enjoy playing her clarinet, and doing music theory and composition whenever she feels up for it, but majoring in music wasn’t what Candy actually wanted to do. No, what she wanted to major in was Cosmetology. But unfortunately, that wasn’t something her parents was going to accept, not as long as Candy still lived under their roof.
Candy’s love for hair and makeup spawn from doing makeovers on both Grenda and Mabel during their sleepovers. She hadn’t realized at the time how much she truly enjoyed it until high school came around and her parents allowed her to style and cut her hair the way she wanted as long as it didn’t intervene with her playing or band. The only thing they had the biggest issue against was the makeup, but that was okay, because Candy use to always do her makeup at school or at Grenda’s or Mabel’s. And even if she didn’t do her makeup on herself, she always had her besties plus Dipper to use as a canvas or on anyone who was open to letting her work her magic onto them. Not only that, but Candy eventually got herself a practice dummy, which turned out to be very useful whenever she wanted to practice on her hair and makeup skills whenever she’s alone. And Candy practices a lot, often creating new makeup looks and hairstyles.
She loves watching hair and make-up tutorials on Youtube, and as well as finds watching bad makeup science fun to watch as pure enjoyment along with debunking five minute craft videos for their incapability of demonstrating their work properly in five minutes. And the more Candy consumes hair and make-up media, the more she wanted to become part of that world herself, realizing that since she couldn’t go into cosmetology in person, than maybe she can show off her skills in media instead. So Candy did what any typical young adult and beauty obsessed person would do and made a separate account on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube so she could post all her looks and tutorials. She didn’t think anything of it besides feeling happiness at her emerging following, and whenever someone left a comment about how thankful they were for her tutorials or how cool and cute a look she posted was. So when Candy was then one day contacted for a brand deal on her Instagram, she screamed! Literally screamed!
Candy is very boy and relationship obsessed. Has always been since the minute she entered middle school and thought one of the boys in her class was cute, but was super shy to ever express how she felt. But after gaining so much confidence through her friendship with Grenda and Mabel, Candy started to become much more confident in letting those she has a crush on know that she likes them. She did it with Dipper that fleeting moment she had a crush on him when she found he seemed less sweaty to her, and Candy continued to be confident even after she got over her crush on him. And let’s just say that Candy has a real fun time flirting with people! She’s never one to be discreet about it, always letting the other know that she’s into them whenever she is, and coming up with plans to get them to fall for her which sometimes works! However, One thing to note about whenever she has a crush, is how singular minded Candy becomes, as she would tend to forget about everything and anything besides how she feels about her crush and wanting them to like her back the same way. It, sometimes got her into a couple of conflicts with her besties, as Candy has more than once fallen for the same person as Grenda and Mabel, and has more than once still tried to purse them even if it may end up hurting her best friends feelings. But fortunately, her bond with the others was too strong to break over silly crushes. Still, Candy would love to have a whirl wind romance one day!
Likes wearing colorful hair extensions, clip ons, will be sporting various bows, ribbons, hats, and all sorts of hair accessories that she could get her hands on. Candy also would put things in her hair that aren’t the designed hair accessory like forks, paper clips, shoe strings, and anything else that she thinks would work in helping get a cute yet funky hairstyle. But whenever Candy isn’t being extra with her hair, typically she would keep it lose or in two pigtails.
Whenever Candy doesn’t want anyone to understand what she was saying, she would switch to Hangul and say it. She does this a lot whenever she’s around Grenda and Mabel. She would also do it around those she severely dislikes and knows they won’t understand her.
Candy’s bedroom is entirely filled with boyband related memorabilia. Both old school boybands, new school boybands, and even k-pop boy groups (with the occasional girls because Candy will not look over talented girlbands even if her interest relies more on boybands the most).
This girl is incredible smart and is a quick-thinker, but sometimes it may not be noticeable how smart Candy is because sometimes she does like to dumb herself down depending on who she’s with, specifically if she’s around any of her crushes.
Lives for gossip! Any form of gossip, celebrity gossip, gossip magazines, school gossip, town gossip, if it’s gossip related, than Candy is the girl who would be listening about it and most likely will be able to know about it the most because people tend to not even realize that she’s snooping until she tells someone about it. Which is usually to Grenda and Mabel, but Candy can sometimes be a blab without meaning to. She also enjoys filling out dating magazine and online dating questionnaires because she likes figuring out who she is most compatible with and who is her ideal dreamboat, even though she already has an ideal type she’s into.
Is obsessed with sweets just like her namesake and baking! She also really loves strawberries and anything mint chocolate related.
Wants to have a dog one day, but knows that her parents won’t approve, so Candy would visit the animal shelter or a pet store and likes to pretend she already owns any cute dog she see’s.
She wears contacts as she is as blind as a bat, but refuses to wear her glasses anymore unless she’s at home or is feeling extremely casual to even bother with putting her contacts on.
Is sometimes insecure about her smile due to her bunny like teeth, but her friends also say it’s cute, so Candy tends to wear her smile with pride.
