Happy New Year!
I almost abandoned this site.. hello! Thought it’d be nice to revisit. I missed tumblr’s quiet interface. Lots of changes and whatnot.. and now it’s already 2022. All this to say.. I’m surprised at myself for still being involved with Bears after so long.
I think I started this blog to document when I first started my animation career. I joined as revisionist, and became a board artist for the remainder of the run for We Bare Bears. I decided to quit for a number of reasons as the show was wrapping up its last few months on the movie. To catch up! I rejoined Cartoon Network to a new directing role. I left for Netflix and felt a lot of burn out subsequently. Having our entire pipeline shift to WFH/remote is no joke! I had meant to take another leave time for myself but We Baby Bears came calling again, but this time for the Creative Director role. So here I am! I’m not sure what to tell people when they ask what I do now- it’s a bit of everything now that the showrunner left midway. So not as much drawing as I was trained and love to do. Instead I’m doing a bit of their role on top of tackling the challenge of coming up with a lot of stuff on the fly.. If anybody’s seen Baby Bears yet (premiered Jan 1 2022) it’s as you know... quite different! And with that, new hurdles etc...
But now and then, I get to fill in random odds and ends like this little bumper animation! You can catch it playing on CN after the credits roll for an episode.
