@ccxenvy
For once, Aelius felt…okay. More than okay, if he had to be honest; he felt great. Things were great.
With every step, the backs of their hands brushed and Aelius tried very hard to hide his smile. It was a warm day; the sun smiled down at the two of them as they met up, at an early supper, and walked down the shop lined streets. It felt like the sun gave them her blessing, wishing  happiness for the two of them.
Aelius looked down at Envy, his sea green hair casting shadows along his eyes, and Aelius quietly reached out to lace their fingers together.
They might have met by coincidence, but there was no such thing as that, was there? There was only fate, the strings twisting and tugging along each person, and fate wanted Aelius and Envy to meet. At least, that’s what Aelius chose to believe.
They slowly approached the intersection where they usually separated at the end of their dates, Aelius back to his place and Envy back to his own. Aelius chewed on his bottom lip and wondered if it was too fast, too forward, but. It would be fine, right? It’s been a few months already, right?
Aelius squeezed Envy’s hand instead of letting go and turned to the other, lips pulled back into a shy smile.
“Did you…did you want to come back to mine for…tea?”
to envy, it is hard to forget and move on.
he understands now what it feels like to have feelings that would be considered forbidden. he knows, when a certain person had popped into his head the moment the resistance was thrown back in time. but he also knows he shouldn't pursue it, that he can find companionship elsewhere, in another person.
it is by sheer luck that he had happened to meet aelius.
as small of a form he is, he hadn't expected the other card to be so... smitten. he still remembers their first conversation, one that led to exchanged numbers and a promise of a first date. needless to say, maybe he can move on after all. maybe this would develop into something more.
so he looks up at aelius, his lips curling into a small smile at the plain purity in aelius's words as the other struggles to find the right thing to say, to convince envy into coming home with him. cute.
still holding onto his hand, envy squeezes back against his palm, facing him completely with a raised eyebrow. "just tea?" he asks, teasing but light in his response. “are you trying to hint at something, aelius?”
human body exploration
@ccxmichael
"are you a butt guy or boob guy?" envy would hear humans ask each other.
frankly, he's not sure why it seems like such a controversial question. of course the optimal answer would be butts. butts exist within all genders, and are appreciative in all aspects of the gender spectrum. breasts are hit or miss, the most viable ones more existent in bodies one would designate as female.
god, this whole 'genders and sexes' concept is useless. it frustrates envy. he'd love to remain purely genderless, as he always has before he took on a human form, but now he's stuck in a form one would point at and label 'male'. an idiotic burden, it is. what happened to the times where he could easily seduce humans of all genders through androgynous forms of varying genital types? now he has to go for the stereotypical big-busted slim woman form in order to dip into the wallets of wealthier men.
maybe it's useless to have these types of thoughts constantly on his mind, but times had been simpler then. so he sighs to himself, even now as he holds onto one of the grips keeping him steady on the train taking him back home from a tiring night of... of... well, he'd rather not say what he had done.
he's almost close to dozing off, trying to blink himself back awake or else he'll miss his stop. but something finally gets his attention, making him jolt a bit, feeling a sudden contact from behind.
someone's fucking touching my ass.
but it feels accidental, and he turns to see the culprit. he blinks, and blinks again, at the sight of a foreigner-- someone who obviously looks like he wasn't born in korea.
"....what are you doing?" he asks in english.
here comes a third
@ccvinny
envy was right about ricky being a twin. danny was the complete opposite of ricky, meek and modest and most importantly-- innocent. of course envy would immediately pounce on the opportunity, relentlessly flirting with the poor boy until danny had run off and called for someone on his phone.
so he didn't know what to expect, leaning against the hot topic counter, hanging around nearby at least whenever danny had to handle a customer. he likes innocence, especially innocence he can easily corrupt and mold in his hands like play-doh. so he had been hoping that he was being successful, that maybe this danny would be a cute kisser.
needless to say, his outcome was not what he had wanted.
he freezes in place at the young man at the entrance, practically shooting daggers through his eyes. fuck. who knew that danny had a knight in shining armor, let alone one that looks just like him, and he's definitely not ricky. (ricky's a fucking triplet? what's next, a quadruplet?) and before he knows it, he's dragged unwillingly out of the store by this new complete stranger.
"what the hell?" he hisses, pushing the other's grip away from him. "i wasn't going to bite him or anything."
hello, nice to meet you again
ccxtaeyong:
he stares at the sales clerk as he rubs his neck, fumbles over his words. a scowl starts to form in the space between taeyong’s eyebrows, a natural reaction to someone who’s supposed to know what they’re doing very apparently not knowing what they’re doing at all. it bothers him, that he, already embarrassed after walking into this place he has no place being in with no idea where to go next, is being helped by an employee who looks just as embarrassed as he feels.
but the awkward moment passes, miraculously, a relief for taeyong, who can feel the cold, judging stare of lifeless mannequins on his back, even if some of them don’t even have heads.
he follows behind the young man, running a hand over the top of his head and tentatively pulling his hood down around his neck. he was, contrary to popular belief, raised on a certain set of manners, manners that only seemed to apply in places like this, where he might actively attempt to look a little less like a sore thumb, if only to avoid catching anymore unwanted attention. something about this place makes him feel lost and small, and clumsy, an afterthought added on when they pass by a row of shiny glass cases filled with sparkling accessories and fragile fragrance bottles, all probably worth more than he makes in a year.
there are more questions then, the answers to which he stumbles over, clearly out of his element.
“uh…no, not…really…” he feels the pink of a blush crawling up his neck, hidden under the black cotton of his sweatshirt, somehow embarrassed by his next, perfectly normal, answer, “it’s for, uh…for church. or something.”
church? that's unheard of. envy doesn't even think taeyong has ever stepped foot in a church ever in the first timetime-- but then again, it could be a way to cover up his hero duties or whatever. (is taeyong still a hero in this timeline? did the restoration card want to curse him that much?) as per usual, he's overthinking things-- but taeyong is ruining everything, restoring everything he's desperately tried to get rid of.
feelings were fickle existences. even now, his heart is yearning, aching for him to reach out to his hero and welcome him back. but no, their bond never existed to begin with this time. there's nothing that permanently ties them together.
he's not sure whether to feel relieved.
"hmm-- then i guess you're in need of one of our more formal shirts," he says, putting a finger on his chin in contemplation. he keeps his back to him for as long as he can while avoiding coming off as rude. "let me see here..." he's glad he still remembers taeyong's sense of fashion, even if it doesn't extend far from dark colors and various hoodies, but he's already grabbing shirts off the racks and hanging them over his arm.
"follow me please," he says, soft-spoken, already heading towards the dressing rooms and grabbing a number tag, hanging it on the front of one of the larger stalls. "why don't you try these on first? i think these would look nice on you." he extends the small selection of button-up shirts towards the other, giving a small smile. "i'll be happy to assist you further if need be."
conceal, don't feel.
pucker up
@ccsouthth
sometimes envy finds himself in awe at how well, even better, other cards can do with posing as fellow humans, shrouding themselves within the crowds. he had spent years trying to belong, and there are still aspects of human life that confuse him.
(those revolving doors are still a curse. he's pretty sure he broke his ankle trying to operate them twice in his human form.)
he even wonders how humans can find pleasure in pain. the foods in south korea are a lot more diverse than what he's used to, a variety beyond the basic grain and tough game he's had human worshippers offer to him. he still can barely choke down gochujang without internally wanting to end himself, pales even at the sight of humans shoveling spoonfuls of spicy curry down their throats.
sour foods are even more of a mystery to them than spicy food can be. at least spicy food is more tolerable if the spiciness isn't the only thing you can taste, but sour foods primarily take pride solely in triggering humans' pain receptors.
so he squints, having spotted a human nearby munching away happily from a box of-- sour patch kids? whatever, he can figure it out enough. he makes his way over to him, his face twisted into an expression of displeasure, concern almost.
"how the hell can you even eat that?" he asks, without any consideration for personal boundaries.
cchongbin:
fuckin’– what? ( /he can’t help but laugh at the image. the thought of yuuko drinking from one, then the other in succession rather than drinking one and getting another is beyond amusing. ; ) as long as you didn’t tell her what it was for though. i don’t need her knowing my interests.
what kind of friend would i be if i did? ( .he scoffs, as if offended that the other card would assume such a thing out of him. and yes, bin was right. yuuko literally had a glass of wine in each hand, alternating between glasses. it was a sight to behold. ) seriously though, happy birthday. technically it’s not really a birthday though, is it? with all of us being born around the same time and all.
take the ground beneath you
ccmino:
Continuing on his way all of a sudden a hand was put on his shoulder. Instantly halting in his steps Mino quickly turned his head so he could see whoever the hell the hand belonged too. Muscles tensing up automatically the tall male actually was preparing himself to either defend himself or attack the person. Maybe one would think that his instant defensive reaction was a bit of an overkill but to Mino it meant the difference between being captured or remaining free. It wouldn’t be the first Hero who had put a hand on his shoulder or the first person who wished to do him harm.
Instead of a Hero or someone who wished to do him harm, however, Mino found the same guy from before standing behind him. Relaxing a bit in his place Earth didn’t drop all his defenses yet. He didn’t know this person after all and a friendly and safe situation could quickly change into a dangerous one. Getting the feeling the other wanted to say something to him because of the way he had put his hand on his shoulder and was now looking at him, Mino turned on his heels so he could face the other completely as he waited for the other to finally voice out whatever it was he wanted to say.
Glancing shortly over at the hand that was still resting on his shoulder he hoped that the other soon would pull it back though. Relieved to find the guy doing exactly that the next second he looked him straight in the eye when he asked him to go for coffee. Pondering about the proposal for a moment, he agreed. “If you buy and it’s good coffee, then sure.” Waiting for the male to move, Mino decided he’d follow him to whatever coffee place he deemed fit.
fuck. envy definitely feels stupid. who the hell goes up to a stranger, grabs him by the shoulder, then asks him out for coffee? then again, he's still getting used to being 'human' around everyone else. even years of fighting alongside heroes aren't enough for him to cope with having a human form. even now, he still wishes he was in his true form, monstrous and god-like, one early human civilizations used to practically worship.
he still smiles giddily whenever he hears the phrase "green with envy".
but earth doesn't seem to even blink an eye, waiting for him even to guide him to a good coffee stop. shit. envy didn't think the other card would actually spare him a second glance that isn't hostile, let alone say yes to his offer. but he supposes free substance is something that most wouldn't pass up.
he's grateful he got paid recently. he doesn't remember exactly whether earth is a greedy card.
"oh," he breathes out. "oh, uh, yeah. of course." he's already headed in the direction towards where he usually stops by for a quick iced latte, their subsequent steps followed by silence. they walk for a fair minute without a single word exchanged, and he wonders how the other members of the resistance are faring, meeting those who they had some sort of kinship with, only to be met with them staring at them like strangers again.
envy wonders what earth would say if he told him he saved his skin once.
"i'm envy, by the way," he says, almost muttered underneath his breath. "i know, 's fucking weird to go by your card name. but i'm not really afraid."

how many pieces do you wish
@ccleedongminie
envy doesn't understand the inventions humans can think up on. see example: bubblegum.
the putty-like substance is no doubt unappealing to a card, and he had gone pale at all the chemicals and unhealthy sugars that go into a single stick of uselessness. he sees no point in dropping 500 or 1,000 won on a small box of something that he can't even swallow. he's read enough about the digestive consequences of the sickly sweet candy (is it candy? fucking hell.) to know that he shouldn't even touch the stuff.
and yet, he's still curious. it's still in demand, and he sees it hanging around convenience stores; a looming threat to all blood sugar levels alike. so he finally caves, snatches a box of bubblegum sticks sitting around the front counter and slaps it down in front of the cashier. a little 'treat' beyond his usual fare of rice balls and kimbap, he supposes.
so he sits down on a bench, tearing and peeling off the plastic that protects the box and keeps its contents from falling out, already ripping the wrapper off of a single stick. he lets it rest on his mouth, allowing the initial sweetness be savored on his tongue, before he bites down and starts chewing over and over and over. he makes a face, especially with how sweet it is, unsure of whether he'll be able to finish the box in one go. (and there was no way in hell he'll end up throwing it away. waste not, want not and all.)
so he continues chewing, already unwrapping a second stick and slipping it into his mouth. he waits until it's all a gooey glob in his mouth, and he tightens the stuff around his tongue and finally blows. he lets the bubble slowly extend to the point that it's bigger than his face (which doesn't exactly say much) and lets it grow, grow, grow--
--until it bursts and splatters all over his face.
he freezes on the bench, his shoulders trembling at his predicament. he can barely see, scrambling across his face to get it all off, already scraping bits of pink sugary sin off of his eyes. he hisses, curses to himself even, and he finally lifts his head, noticing that someone had been watching him this whole time.
fucking hell.
hiya if ya want a starter from envy, reply to this with a word of your choice!
edit: i’m no longer taking any more words! i’ll post again if i ever need more plots~
one page at a time
@ccjiho
envy had been familiar enough with how humans would communicate and record their history through text. he had never bothered to learn how to decipher the foreign symbols beyond basic comprehension. when he had learned that humans now wrote texts for recreation and entertainment, he had initially saw it as a useless activity. why write if not for the sake of recording your achievements and glory? for the sake of preserving memory?
he didn't bother before. but god, did he wish he had started sooner.
it's the closest he can be familiar with in terms of society's advances. tablets went to paper to digital words on a screen. but humans still have the appreciation for paperbacks, and he has to finally settle for a hobby that won't make him want to tear his hair out from how advanced it is compared to what he's been exposed to centuries ago, long before he had been captured and trapped in that stupid book.
so he often finds himself sitting in a secluded corner in the bookstore just a few minutes' walk away from his hasukjib. sometimes his small bedroom can be too suffocating, even with all the privacy and quiet he's privileged to have. but it's a lot better, more effective to study here, to read all the books he likes and bring home the ones that he labels as his favorites.
even so, it's still a solo hobby. he doesn't and never had expected anyone to approach him beyond the employee's occasional can i help you look for something? as long as he has a book in his hand--
but it seems like this girl has different motives.
he lifts his head from the current paperback in his hand, noticing the familiar-looking girl eye him from a few feet away. he knows she's one of the staff who work here, but he never really paid her any mind. he tries to return to his book, to dive into the fictional world it's meant to guide him through, but he can still feel her eyes practically drilling into his head.
christ, just come over already--
ready player two
@ccxjeongguk
back in the first timeline, envy... jihoon never really considered anyone to be his friend.
he was used to the acquaintances passing to and fro, the cards he provides respect to, the occasional human who wouldn't become his prey. did he ever have anyone who considered him a friend? envy doesn't remember much. the years he spent in the apocalypse overlapped and took over the memories of what happened before then. Â
he'll remember the cards most of all, the ones who had been by his side before they all were trapped in the wretched book, but he had never considered any of them to be a friend.
so why is this timeline so different?
he now finds himself in the residence of another card, video game controller in hand (he's long since learned to operate video games at this point. after all, anyone during the hanged man's reign had to learn how to find entertainment some way or another in whatever they could find.) and his other wrist taken by the hacker card as he's dragged into the place.
the look in sombra's eyes is now more than familiar. it's a sense of kinship, it's a silent message that they're friends.
hm.
he watches him for a moment, looks down at the hacker card, then looks back towards him again. "did you know that some game named a character after you?" he remarks, already plopping down in front of the television. "humans are strange."
we change up, change up, change up!
prisoners of the past ;
cctaehyung:
the continuous thoughts and memories replay in his head as he lives again in the tragic scene that has happened in front of his eyes. because of such events, he was no longer the kim taehyung people knew before everything had happened. he had been somewhat similar to this after having yoongi die in front of him and he didn’t expect for what happened to someone he disliked to shape him into the person he is today.
he wants to try to make it up to the people who have suffered because of his cowardly behavior, still. but there was no way he could. at least, he wasn’t aware of one as of now. but because of the failure to think of ideas to redeem himself and make such people including himself not scowl at the body he is in now, he was as good as pathetic.
he’s been through such mindsets before. the feeling of uselessness. after he had escaped one event that shaped him into the man he wanted to keep on being, he thought he wouldn’t feel that feeling as often. perhaps this was life’s way of laughing at such foolish behavior in the past.
his silent train of thought is interrupted by the sound of a man. looking over at the source of the voice, he looks to see none other than envy, a face he hadn’t seen since they had found yuuko with the restoration card. has it really been that long since they have communicated? it feels like he hasn’t talked to him in years, despite no physical change being obvious to him. ricky was sure that the smaller man noticed his exhaustion. it’s a side effect from the lack of sleep he’s gotten and failure to do anything about it but live through it with coffee from the clamp cafe and endless training.
“shouldn’t it be obvious?” he answers the card. “i can’t sleep.” he looks away from the other, looking back to the front of himself as he stares at nothing but the trees and grass in his sight. “the reasons should be obvious.”
no, envy gets it. he definitely does. he sees the familiar symptoms he had witnessed from himself through ricky, (taehyung? ugh, irrelevant.) the dark circles forming under his eyes. the slumped shoulders. the familiar melancholic atmosphere heavily seeping from the magical hero.
he remembers his own days of replaying taeyong's death over and over in his head, the phantom pains that make his whole body shiver and twitch whenever he recalls how his body was practically torn apart the second their bond was severed. he had stared into his palms, knowing he couldn't even keep taeyong's lover safe with how painful the severance had been, how punished and pathetic he felt for being useless in the end.
so he makes the conscious decision to sit beside the other hero without hesitation, settling into the free space on the bench before shifting his bag strap over his head and setting his pack down. there's no rush to get home, even if he has hong ramyun and steamed eggs waiting for him, finding more important matters at hand than the consistent issue of providing his body substance.
"still haven't been able to? jeez," he comments, though he tips his head up at the sky. the city had polluted it enough so that the stars couldn't be seen, something envy used to hold over humans' heads to justify his unnecessary chaos. but the moon still shines through the clouds, something he hadn't been able to see until they were launched back in time.
"i'd figured you'd be alright by now. like everyone else." his words are awkward. after all, he used to consider himself an enemy of heroes, a being that wished for their downfall along with the rest of humanity's until he had witnessed it for himself. but he's better than that now. all of them should be better than that. "well, i guess everyone else is still on the same boat as you, huh?" he pauses.
“prescription sleep medication can help, you know,” he adds. “works wonders, trust me. it keeps me from yelling in the middle of the night, at least.”
guilty pleasures
baekcc:
he’s back again.
baek narrows his eyes at the sight of the other just hovering outside of the cafe but never entering. it’s something that he finds suspicious time and time again. his assumption is that they must be planning something. most of the time baek just watches him, making sure that he doesn’t make any moves to harm the fluffy animals that he watches over. today, baek is finally going to do something about it.
he initially wanted to accost him verbally but when the other card starts to make a run for it baek catches him around his chest on instinct. the other card wasn’t particularly hard to catch and he was incredibly light. the force that baek has to use to pull him back from mid-run makes them fall over. he isn’t particularly fond of the fact that they’re both on the ground and the other is basically laying on top of him, but he’s small enough and light enough for baek to not really feel anything.
at the look that the other card gives baek he returns with his own glare, “i’ve caught you watching several times now, what were you planning to do.” and now the interrogation begins.
kittens. fluffy. small. quiet. cute. they’re little balls that can grow into beings of destruction. envy fucking loves them. and here this card is, trying to ruin everything.
envy resists the urge to spit in his face, continuing to scowl down at him and shuffling to try and get off of the larger man’s figure. people are staring now, but it doesn’t seem like either of them are willing to budge or look decent. but envy still feels color creep up the back of his neck, avoiding the general populace’s curious gaze, his eyes lowering back down to the man’s torso to avoid making any sort of eye contact.
“what’s wrong with looking into a window, huh?” he practically spits out, hisses almost. “i’m not hurting anyone, am i? i’m not breaking any laws, am i?” he scoffs, rolling his eyes. “what? are you actually worried i was going to do anything funny? i wasn’t going to target any humans in there.” no, he’s never intended to pull shit like that since the world had reset, and he sure as hell isn’t willing to start now. he might hurt the animals, the kittens.
“i wasn’t going to do anything,” he murmurs, his eyes trailing back to the kittens playing with a ball of yarn behind the window. cute.
