MY OPINION:

you know, there's so much discourse and unsatisfied reviews around BTS's new album 'ARIRANG'. many saying "there's too much english", "they all did solo work and don't know how to work together as BTS anymore" or that "it's not uniquely BTS", but i honestly think this is almost as BTS as it gets. this album gave 2013-2014 BTS and their hip-hop sound. considering their solo projects and how they all dabbled in different genres and learnt different things about themselves and what their sound is, i love how you can hear that in this album. it doesn't sound like 7 solo artists tryna make music as a group but rather a group with different styles making tracks that reflect who they are and what sound makes them who they are. it's like sharing knowledge and appreciating each others sound.

i do agree that for an album named 'ARIRANG', which holds sooo much cultural significance, there's a lot of english and i fear that might just be them 'accomodating' international fans in which i think if they became an ARMY while listening to your majourity korean tracks then you don't have to do too much with the english.

ALBUM RATING:

but with all that aside i rate this album a solid 8.5/10. soley because of 1 song.

ALIENS: 7/10 - i feel edged....i NEEDED a beat drop or some harmonious something in here somewhere. all i got was good clit flick.

FYA: 9/10 - TAKE ME TO THE CLURB AND VOUGE ON ME WHILE I SHAKE ASS ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!

2.0: 9.5/10 - IN THE CLURB SHAKING ASSSSSSSSSSS. i need J-hope to drop a dance yesterday.

N.O 29: REQUIRED‼️- because we all definitely needed some silence and to catch our breath. this might be dick-riding but this was some beautiful ambiance.

SWIM: 5/10 - i'm sure you can tell this was not for me. i didn't feel connected to it. it felt like a random english release. maybe it will grow on me someday but for now it's not for me.

MERRY GO ROUND: 9/10 - YES.

NORMAL: 8.5/10 - when i listened to this on a whim i didn't really like it but then i came back when i was in a slient room in a better mood and wow. it gets deep.

LIKE ANIMALS: 8/10 - AWOOOOOOOOO, BABY I'M PREYING ON YOU TONIGHT...

ONE MORE NIGHT: 7.5/10 - POOL PARTY AT MINE!!!!!!

PLEASE: 8:5/10 - "OHHH PLEASEEE trample on my yearning body" ahh song, and i'm here for it.

INTO THE SUN: 10/10 - TAEHYUNG.....I LOVE YOUR SEXY BRAIN. if i ever hear this live i'm gonna fall to the ground and disintegrate...definitely riding off into the sunset with this one.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

i really enjoyed this album and i can't help but be sooo excited about their return and what they have in store for us. this might be an undewhelming listen for some but THIS IS MYY SHIIII and also remember BTS are PERFORMERS so thisssss is gonna be even better live. (i'm sooo mad i can't watch it live tho...management PLEASE add africa to the map🙏🙏🙏). i'm grateful that i was able to be present for another good listen from them especially with all that is going on in the world right now and i can't wait for more.💜💜
