putting me and my naming conventions on blast!!!! you see ellipsus wants a name before you open the document which sometimes means i have to throw some real spaghetti,,,, not that my fic/chapter naming conventions are generally very sensical or normal ill be real
who could say is the Vulcan fancy dress occasion where Jim and Spock go (alone together) to Vulcan, and both are made to wear fancy Vulcan clothes and be appropriate with Vulcan customs... and it definitely goes so well and there are no misunderstandings or assassinations or half-asleep escape attempts or near-kisses...

Kirk yanks the sash tighter. He double knots it again.
"Of course…" he says. "I'll trust you to… speak your mind, when you're ready."
He looks at Spock. Spock purses his lips slightly, frowning just minutely- opens his mouth-
"Captain-"
"You could just say Jim, since it's the two of us. It's not even entirely a Starfleet mission," he says a little too quickly. "I hear you saying Captain in my dreams sometimes. Maybe I just need to be Jim once in a while. We… aren't on the ship."
"No," Spock says slowly. "No, I should say we are not. Very well, then."
