if you're here because i interacted with a journalling/fountain pen post, i have thieleafsjournals just for my own journal posts, as well as a youtube for talking through things more in depth, if you're interested. i use the tag "pens and paper" for anything related -not just my own- on this blog. i do also reblog all of my own posts here anyway though.

sorry not sorry there's now suddenly a lot of star trek stuff here, i will not make a side blog for that.

to be fair its because of the intentional limiting of scope to be just about set and prop design but....

but also no one will know our thoughts about what jim was seeing during that first conversation. like. wow you really saw this man, who you know has threatened bones physically, made a very scary display at chapel, who is acting Weird As Fuck, framed by weapons and obviously hiding something behind his back, and then decided to pull your arms behind you, defenseless? with him (his shadow) over your heart?

fully saying "i am not afraid that you will hurt me. and i want you to know that, so you know that i think you are the one in danger. but i know you and care about you enough to not speak of it and to help you hide it."

OKAY I am Real Pleased about this one + glad to have finished my two prepped poems waiting for me to have enough clarity of thought to design. it's such a stunner!!! this is the latest in a series of (Star Trek based) collage poems and you can find the rest here. The Sun is from a calendar page and the words are cut from an old book on fun facts, then arranged into a new poem! It took me a while to decide on the composition, but once i found it, i almost didn't want to glue the words on!

I think about the themes of repression and isolation and struggle and loneliness and connection and reaching out and finding your reason to be (and and and) every day. and you know what else i think about every day? Spock and Captain Kirk are in love + it matters so much I'd love to tell you lots more about it and my collages/poetry if you're interested!

What is the right time?

Everything "pulls" on everything pressure builds up. Then they break because they are so far away the most serious hazard is being trapped in Exposure cemented together blood stops but they cannot function afraid to grasp frightened to obey imagination

proper monsters depend on layers to keep warm They think they have found one another melted beyond return and so had a right to take brave movements

superior stars are hard to find

instead of following faults They reach with a force-- to find their way toward each other. changed by great heat certain companions breathe as a reward how else?

I finally had the will and the way to finish another poetry collage! (It is absolutely about Star Trek, but you might relate to the themes regardless) text is cut from an 80's second grade science textbook and arranged into a poem by me! i'd love to talk about it or any of my other poetry collages if you're curious!

What is the meaning behind ur username?

so my name is thie, and, while it's less noticeable as a personality trait now than it was when i made this username, i really love and drink a lot of tea, specially loose leaf tea. so thieleaf is kind of a wordplay on tealeaf!

it's fun to me to see who says thie, who says thieleaf, who says leaf, and some people even just say tealeaf? also it's fun to see who uses a soft th and who uses a hard th. either is good, i personally use the latter just because i struggle slightly with the former.

anyway i tried to make that more interesting than it is haha, it really is just tealeaf -> thie leaf

Do you like nudity and outfits worse than being naked, Rube Goldberg machines of sexual frustration, fake dating at a fetish club island, ludicrous situations that continue to escalate, Spock losing it over how much he wants Jim, Jim winning conversational combat with swift and fatal efficiency, restraint and aching against it, body shimmer, public baths, temptation, entrancing dreams, and canon-typical antics multiplied by repression?

I've done it! I wrote a tribble poem that I debated at length how to depict, and then decided to digitally illustrate it for my dad's birthday. i finished it just under the wire, because it's today! enjoy! i love the way spock says multiplicative proclivities in the episode and it really made me want to play with words

a tribble

(one tribble)

small, spherical and furry

does provoke a disproportionate and inflamed worry.

a gentle trilling being may not suggest incessant threats

but the peril lies, not feral, in each replication of these pets

the multiplicative proclivities of tribbles cause some trouble

because one may expect a tribble, fat on kibble, just to double

but a tribble trapped and happy, spawning litters, average ten

which each, presuming sustenance, beget a litter yet again

and again

and again

and again

until tribbles taking nibbles of any loose edible matter

fill compartments packed with pests, propagating ever fatter

and while this does present a problem, there is another question

each overstuffed annoyance has passed from indigestion

and the storage full of grain became storage full of tribbles

taxidermied by their gluttony, and yet answering a riddle—

each creature within reach here became a sacrifice unknowing

so while pestilent, we must lament each of these corpses overflowing

and thank the humble tribble, while conceding confrontation

spare yourself, be warned and wary— you must invite no tribulation

do not, in any circumstance, purchase without quibble

one, not even one,

small, furry, helpless
