A playlist documenting Newt’s and Thomas’ story throughout The Maze Runner Series. It was hard to narrow down, and I have many more songs left that I could’ve added, but this is the final twenty-five, with some bonuses. My lovely friend helped me get these in chronological order, to an extent. She’s amazing, so some credit goes to @kawai-kettu. Wish me luck today, cause I’m seeing the movie for a third and final time in cinemas, and I likely won’t survive it. 

Edit: I just realized a typo cause I’m a dumbass that rushed to get this done. It’s supposed to say the runner and the lover, not love, so yeah, I may correct that later, don’t ridicule me 😂 Also an honorable mention is Lullaby by Nickelback. Imagine Thomas and Newt meeting up secretly on nights without the others - wandering through the empty corridors of WICKED’s headquarters. Whispering secrets to each other, sharing inside jokes. Finding any excuse to touch the other - nudging shoulders, patting on the back, dragging down corridors.

Imagine Newt telling Thomas what his real name is - Sam - and in return, Thomas sharing that his name was Stephen. From that night, whenever the two were together alone they would call each other Sammy or Stephen. They didn’t want to forget.

There’d be accidental slip-ups, when they were all hanging out in the janitor’s room.

Thomas would break a pencil, “Bloody hell, Stephen, again?” Minho and Alby would share a look of confusement.

Newt would turn up late, “Finally Sam!” Teresa went to question Thomas but he changed the subject quickly after realising his mistake.

Thomas hugging Newt goodbye the night before Newt was sent up into the maze, tears dropping onto Newt’s shoulder. “I won’t ever forget you, Sammy.”

“Promise?” Newt’s voice cracks.

“Promise.”
