What is the Celestial Waves AU?
The Celestial Waves AU is a TSAMS AU where the cast are mermaids, blog posts are written in a arg style by employees of the Celestial Waves Project, a group lead by The Creator and his husband, Dr. Newton, that observes the Decidit Astrum (the merr) and you (some rando who has made direct contact with them) by extension.
Basically, tsams au where the creator is a fucked up marine biologist and the Decidit Astrum is a man made species created by him

Notes
Alternate dimention characters do exist but in seperate shoals, they are treated as different members of the same species by the characters instead of alternate versions (e.g. Eclipse and Solar do not see each other as alternate versions of each other, just that they look really similar)
I have the curse of a somewhat cute artstyle, almost all of the characters are considered to be both terrifing and etherial even though I make them little guys.
Everyone is alive or otherwise present
Dr. Newton is NOT the trashcan man or whatever his name is

Since you’ve done Solar, have you ever considered doing any other characters from the Sun and Moon show like Lunar and Earth or maybe even Jack and Dazzle? I think it would be amazing if Solar and Sun got to have their children with them in this AU.
Hihi, Funnily enough I did actually draw Earth and Lunar for Celestial Waves last year, I just forgot to post the image I guess so here's a doodle to make up for it kaeeafjkleakjfl
As for Jack O Moon and Dazzle, I had imagined that Jack would be more mechanical than the others with octopus like wire tentacles (to mirror the Blood Moons being based off of an octopus) that would twist into a single eel like appendage and Dazzle didn't exist when the AU was created so Celestial Waves Dazzle doesn't exist yet!

Solar wears fingerless leather gloves due to the webbing between his fingers making it impossible for him, or any of the merr, to wear fingered gloves
Solar, like all characters that come from alternate dimentions in tsams, comes from a nearby shoal
Solar does not take good care of himself and will always put others first, leading to him tearing the delicate tissues around his neck and waist
Solar's star fragment flickers occasionally and feels rubbery, a sign of poor health. Due to this, Solar's heart rate is constantly monitored by the Celestial Waves Project through a device sewn into one of his gloves
He has an interest in fashion being one of the only mer who wear clothing outside of ribbons
As the Celestial Waves au mirrors the main dimention, Solar does die, just not for a while. After a long period of time, Eclipse agrees to share some of the Newton Star's energy with a revived version of him, leading to the two of them becoming very close
After his revival, Solar prefers isolation. He finds it hard to do much of anything and would much prefer to stay in his and Eclipse's cave while he heals
He is months away from being the person he once was between the memory loss and the whole newton star eating him from the inside out thing. He can hardly think straight half the time due to the pain
"So. Apparently the fish can revive themselves. That's... something, alright.. " - Dr. Newton, co-head of the @celestial-waves-project
Eclipse is is considered to be quite large by the standards of other eclipse merr.
Eclipse was killed by Moon and Solar. The two of them blew up his nest while he was resting from a fight with Sun. Since then, he has been spotted miraculously alive. Both The Creator and Dr. Newton deny their involvement in Eclipse's revival
He is in immense pain 24/7 due to both him suffering the effects of getting blown up as well as the Newton Star's affect on his body, slowly eating away at his body and replacing it with anti mater created whenever the Star's power is harnessed, which is all the time because Eclipse would die without it
Eclipse had his star fragment, the star shaped objects suspended in orbs that floats between the tail fins of the merr that acts as their main source of energy, destroyed when he was blown up and now relies on the Newton Star to survive.
Due to the Newton star taking a role similar to a star fragment, it has currently taken the appearance of one but it is able to take on many shapes depending on the will of its owner
Eclipse dislikes how brightly coloured he is as it makes him an easy target, the sparkles from whatever the Newton Star's doing is not helping with that
He has 4 arms due to the Newton Star mutating his body but is able to retract them using a sort of magic
[A transcript taken from a private interview or meeting of sorts. Dr. Newton is being interviewed about the Newton Star]
"I... I'm not quite sure what it is. My apologies."
[An obvious cut in audio can be observed, likely obscuring the interviewer's voice]
"Look. It's some sort of star fragment, much more powerful than any we've created. Moon is far more intelligent then we had prevously hoped for. How does a fish create something that took us years in the the span of a few weeks!?"
[Dr. Newton pauses, the clinking of a cup being lifted and set back on a table and be heard]
"It's a serious concern and The Creator does not give a damn. I love him and all but God is he thick headed. And- and you know what's crazy about that star? It can fucking transform, shapeshift, whatever. You can't find that thing if it doesn't want you to! We've tried collecting it for research but it just- disappears! Vanishes! Just- fucking- in front of our very eyes? I don't fucking-"
[Dr. Newton is interrupted by his interviewer and a long period of silence follows]
"...Yeah, right. Sorry- I- It's been a lot. I just... its weird, you know? And The Creator doesn't even take me seriously, he said, 'well if you care so much about it, let's name it after you, let's call it the Newton star.' Excuse me? What the actual fuck is that response?"

Moon likes to float on his back while Stargazing
Old Moon was a menace to the US government and destroyed the sea food stock market on several occasions
He is rather picky food wise but loves sushi and crab. If there are no foods that he likes available, he will simply insist that he does not need to eat because he gains energy from his star fragment
Moon enjoys hunting for fun and often gives the fish he doesn't eat to his family
Old Moon ate one of the Celestial Waves Project employees on a whim
Old Moon and New Moon both exist in this AU. New Moon comes about after the equivilent of Old Moon giving up his life for KC happens where Merr Old Moon sacrifices a large chunk of his Star Fragment (An alien source of energy that all merr depend on to survive) to save KC from certain death
"Sun is extremely excitable and loves warm waters, boat watching and getting into trouble. And, although he's unable to speak or understand English, he is extremely sociable, almost to a fault. Do you know how many times we've almost been busted because he'll just... swim up to random sailors? Paying people off to keep silent about him takes up at least a quarter of our budget"

Sun cannot speak english because he gets distracted very easily and just can't find the motivation to learn on his own
Sun has the most human contact despite the fact that he cannot speak to people
The merr have their own language and Sun will often ask Moon to translate for him
Sun is the reason why he and Moon live so close to the surface because he likes to watch the sun rise in the morning
He glows much brighter than the other merr
Sun enjoys having his 'rays' played with, he also enjoys floating on his back while soaking up the sun
His star fragment, the star shape inside of the bright yellow orb, is warm and squishy
[Transcript taken from an unreleased promotional video intended to be part of an educational series on the Celestial Waves Project. The viewer is greeted by Dr. Newton]
"We at the Celestial Waves Project hear you! So, what's up with all this star talk? Well, the world around us is filled with dormant, seemingly magical, energy just ready to be released and the densest storage of energy that we've discovered is something you're quite familiar with; the night's stars. The star power, what we like to refer to energy from the stars as, from a singular star is enough to provide electricity to an entire continent for years! Isn't that incredible?"
[An info graphic on star power is presented on screen during Dr. Newton's speech]
"Now you must be wondering; 'if star power is so great, why doesn't anyone use it?.' Well, you see, star power is incredibly difficult to procure. Not only will these giant balls of gas incinerate anything that comes close but star power itself relies on an organic lifeforms to channel it to be able to used star power in any productive way."
[A blueprint of sorts is presented on screen, the ink is smudged and the paper itself shows clear signs of water damage]
"Thats where our lovely stars, the Decidit Astrum, come in. During meteor showers, tiny particles of stars fall to the earth which we collect to create what we call 'star fragments', tightly packed star dust suspended in a trade secret orb shaped construction. These star fragments are used in the creation of our merr and act as a source of energy for them which they can freely wield."
[The video cuts back to Dr. Newton]
"And thats where their name comes from- the Decidit Astrum, the fallen stars- because, well, they're made from fallen stars, simple as that!"
Oceanic manta rays are the largest species of ray in the world, with a wingspan of up to 26 feet. Despite their immense size, they are completely harmless to divers - they have no barbs to speak of, unlike stingrays, and spend their time filtering the water for plankton with the help of their cephalic lobes (the big paddles on each side of their mouths). Socorran mantas have grown very used to divers, and often seek out our bubble curtains seemingly because they feel good and may help clear away parasites!
