Some people leave your life like summer..warm enough to remember, quiet enough to mistake for gone.
You were never one of them. You have lived in the corners of my years, appearing whenever life remembered our names, our story was never loud enough to become love, yet never silent enough to disappear.
I knew the boy
with laughter that outran the afternoon, the one who could make ordinary days feel worth keeping.
Then time did what time always does
it sculpted us separately.
And somehow, when we found each other again, I wasn't looking at the memories. I was watching the man.
The way your hands reach first to open the door, the way your voice softens when you say my name, the way kindness seems to follow you without asking for applause.
You make affection feel effortless.
No games to solve. No wondering where I stand. No lonely nights beside someone who forgot I was there. Just quiet things. A smile you didn't know I caught. A hand resting on the small of my back.
A phone call because you thought of me.
Plans spoken as if tomorrow was always meant to include us. Around you, I don't feel like a woman rebuilding.
I feel like the girl
who still believed butterflies
could live in someone's laugh.
And maybe that's what surprises me most. After all the ways love once unraveled, I never expected hope to wear a familiar face.
Yet here you are...
Turning old memories into new beginnings,
and teaching my heart
that sometimes,
the love you spend years searching for
was simply waiting
to grow up beside you. 💙💛27.
