One Direction's Liam Payne Says His New Year's Resolution Is to Give Up Smoking: 'Need to Grow Up Now'

As the end of 2015 approaches, the One Direction guys are (fittingly) looking in one direction in particular: toward the year ahead. Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson spoke to PEOPLE about their New Year’s resolutions at Jingle Ball 2015 in Los Angeles on Friday. Payne, 22, often cited as the “mature one” of the group, has a serious goal for 2016. “I’m going to try and give up smoking, which is hard, but I do want to,” he said. “I want to. It’s about time. Need to grow up now.” Horan, too, has a clearly defined goal for the new year. “I’m going to train, succeed in the gym this year. I always do it when I’m on tour and then when I get home, I’m crap,” the 22-year-old said. “Yeah, I would like to succeed properly and get the job done.” Tomlinson, however, claims he isn’t the resolution-making type. “I never stick to mine, so I’m out!” said Tomlinson, 23, who is expecting a childwith Briana Jungwirth in 2016. And Styles, 21, claimed that it’s “too early” to already be thinking about next year.
