Celine's Birds

I'm an analytical chemist with a bachelor's degree in molecular, cell and developmental biology with some ecology and ornithology coursework. I photograph birds (and occasionally some other animals) in my free time and during my travels. All images are by yours truly. Feel free to suggest identification corrections or provide constructive criticism. Equipment: Canon EOS Rebel T3 camera with either EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto lens (2013) or EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto lens (2014).

Not my typical flying object, but these planes are fierce!  The DC-10 is the world’s largest firefighting plane.  There’s currently a large fire in San Luis Obispo County, and I’ve been enjoying seeing this plane fly by between retardant drops.  I’m a fire wife, and even though my husband isn’t on the line, I’m just so proud of him!  

This image was taken last year, May 3, 2014 (my birthday!) along Highway 101 between San Luis Obispo and Avila Beach.
