Honestly, I feel like most white people don't understand - and don't want to understand - the actual story of Encanto. Making Abuela a villain goes against the entire point - Encanto is a story about generational trauma in latino families and how to overcome it, together, as a family. The trauma wasn't caused by Abuela, she suffered from it too. Everyone did. That's what generational trauma is. Most of the white people watching this movie are not going to get the story because it's told from such a latin perspective, and I think making it all about "ooh cool magic" and "ooh animated character hot" is ruining the actual magic of this movie.

I might elaborate later (or not bc it's been said before) but two spirit isn't the native way of saying "trans" or "queer" and not all trans or queer Indigenous people are two spirit and using that term to describe a white identity is WRONG and using it to describe an Indigenous person who hasn't explicitly told you they're two spirit is also...get this wrong

this would be valid if they were protesting for their right to go back to work and not for other people to go back to work for them. do you see the difference? when a woman at an anti-lockdown protest is holding a sign that says “I want a haircut” as opposed to “I want to go back to work,” then yes, she does clearly just want a haircut.

can you believe the trump supporters protesting the lockdown? do they not understand what a pandemic is, what it does? the importance of having a vaccine available? how bad this is going to get if people keep interacting so much? did y’all see that video of the woman yelling at the nurse blocking the street? those people seriously think they’re in the right. they think they’re on the right side of history. it’s crazy. we always look back on historical events like “how could that have happened?” it was people exactly like that. stupidity is so amazing, really. embarrassing and tragic, but amazing in its own way. and all the corrupt shit behind the scenes that the trump administration is trying to hide. this country is totally falling apart and it is so sad and they’re letting it happen. maybe even want it to happen. I really hope the republicans that aren’t brainwashed are seeing what’s going on.
