This has reminded me (by bringing me back into my tumblr inbox lol) that I had another ask on these same lines, firstprince as Bronco/Sid. Apologies to the previous anon!

It does lend itself pretty well to the setup—the Brit and the American, the flirting, the banter. For the "Rachel" role, come along with me here: Zahra. I can just SEE her picking up these two guys out a prison where they've managed to get themselves locked up because they got into trouble. Plus, even if she's not canonically a lawyer, I can definitely see her as a kind of fixer. Nora could easily be on the team as a hacker. I can even see Pez working with them because he can talk his way into anything.

As far as a fic goes, there's probably no danger of that happen any time soon, sadly. I have a few other wips I would do first (orchestra, pool players, and adding to my existing spy series), but I'm actually taking a bit of a pause on fic to hopefully make some progress on pulling my original novel project together. But I appreciate you thinking of me, it would be very fun!

There's something about how in the book, Alex and Henry both long so deeply for home. Alex ruminates and misses Texas, and Henry is stuck in a big palace that isn't quite him, always looking up at the stars because it reminds him of his dad (home) and it reminds him of how things were.

The fact that they both find a home in each other is peak romance and I get a little weak every time I think about that.

Is Henry having thick thighs canon? Most fics I've read Alex is obsessed with Henry's thighs and I find it hilarious that Nick indeed has thick eyes and Taylor indeed has long eyelashes (which is Alex canon) 🤣🤣

This is cracking me up, I am honored that you came into my ask box for input on this very important question. The short answer is: yes, Henry's thick thighs are book canon! Alex mentions "the power of his thighs" as a distinct turn on while watching Henry play polo in Connecticut, but the main clincher line is this one:

He feels Henry's thighs—those goddamn horseback-riding, polo-playing thighs—moving around him... (Red, White and Royal Blue, chapter 7)

The thing about horseback riding is that 90% of your control comes from your "seat", i.e., your legs and thighs, so they have to be very muscular and well developed. This is especially true in disciplines like polo, where you have to lean down with a mallet to hit the ball, where you only have one hand on the reins. Your ability to direct your horse and stay on comes pretty much entirely from your thighs. Polo players have thighs of STEEL.

So yes, there is textual evidence for Alex's obsession with Henry's thighs. God bless.

Alex snorts and shakes his head. “Bullshit. Ok, I can’t know for sure since this is the first time we’re actually witnessing Tyrannosaurus behaviour, but I can just tell, you know?” he says with an emphatic gesture. “What they’re doing has all the hallmarks of mating behaviour. I’m certain that if we gave them an egg, they’d raise it together.” “So, what you’re telling me is that my family has unwittingly created a lesbian dinosaur utopia.” “I mean… yeah, you could certainly put it that way,” Alex allows. Henry laughs, practically giddy. “I think that may be the best thing I’ve heard all year.”

(After spending too many years writing internal memos, Henry's looking forward to his new assignment: writing educational materials for an unprecedented theme park that promises to change the world. He's also not complaining about the fact that he'll have to work in close proximity to the park's scorching hot chief paleontologist, Dr. Alex Claremont-Diaz. I almost forgot it was Wednesday and time for a sneak preview of the next chapter of High Ticket Attractions! What's this? A flashback in Alex POV? 👀

Gingerly, he helped Roger into a more upright position so he could wrap the makeshift bandages around his middle. How they were going to get out of here was another question. It turned out that Roger had another nasty puncture wound on his leg, hidden by his pants, and all Alex could do for that is use his belt as a tourniquet to try to slow the bleeding. “You gotta get out of here,” Roger said grimly as Alex worked on trying to stabilize him. “There’s no way I’m gonna make it. But you still can.” “I’m not leaving you here to die,” Alex gritted out. “It’s not so bad. First human ever to be baby rex food,” Roger tried to joke. Alex glared at him, but that didn’t mean Roger wasn’t right. Alex was strong, but Roger was a burly man, and there was no way Alex could carry him out alone. Be that as it may, Alex was also extremely stubborn, and he wasn’t going to leave without trying. Not even when the thud of approaching footsteps hailed the return of the rexes.

I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.

It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.

I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.

First Kiss ✨

Four years. That’s how long Henry and Alex have revolved around each other in friend groups, attended parties and concerts, endured holidays, celebrated birthdays and professional achievements. Henry knew very early on how special Alex is, brighter than the sun.

Others took note too, of course, Henry wasn't the only one. Alex attracts a lot of attention from women and men alike, and he gives it back. A natural flirt, charismatic, smart, handsome. Well, Alex is hot as hell, actually. Some days it’s all Henry can do to not stare and drool.

It’s Thursday night, which means trivia and half priced beer at their local queer bar, and the gang is assembled. Henry, Alex, June and Nora, Pez. At this point Pez is not a fifth wheel, something Henry begs Pez not to tell him too much about.

Their team is on a winning streak, dominating three weeks in a row now. No one loves winning more than Alex. He’s animated, sitting next to Henry, their thighs pressed together, making sure everyone’s glass stays filled while they cycle through rounds of questions.

Henry’s relishing in the warmth emanating from Alex, thinking what it would feel like to have more of him. Yes, they hug. As friends. Sometimes long enough for Henry to quickly bury his nose against Alex’s neck and smell him, a private thrill.

The pitcher is empty and Alex volunteers to get a refill. Henry watches him lean against the bar, a group of girls initiate a conversation and one touches Alex’s arm while laughing. Henry feels sick. Excuses himself to go to the bathroom, sees Alex glance at him out of the corner of his eye as he heads down the long back hallway.

Alex will never be his, Henry needs to get a grip. Gives himself a stern reprimand as he washes his hands, looking long and hard at himself in the mirror. He needs to get over Alex, maybe download that app again. Ugh.

Pushing the door to exit, Henry comes face to face with Alex.

With Wild and Full of Marvels: Queer Fanworks Inspired by Folklore and Fairy Tales, our authors and artists bring our perspective as queer adults in the 21st century to the stories, some ancient, some modern, that meant the most to us when we were young. Each creator selected a folktale, fairy tale, myth, or legend that had personal significance for them, then reimagined these personal touch-stones as we wish they could be: stories that uphold our cultures, stories that impart the lessons and morals we wish to impart, stories that drive home the cautions we wish we’d received, stories in which people like us are the heroes held forth for emulation. We’ve transformed these stories to be more inclusive, more personal, more understanding of others, and—of course!—much more queer.

The book contains 23 stories, each up to 5,000 words long; 21 full-page artworks; a 4-page comic by Max Jason Peterson; and a 10-page comic by Jupiter V—a total of 46 queer fanworks inspired by stories from North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
