Kabhi koi mujhse poochay tou Kya bataun mere liay Kya hain aap,
for it was you who carried me towards you,
towards your majlis during a time I was grieving and
inconsolable, for I was experiencing a loss
loss of the most powerful unwavering love I have experienced in this lifetime,
You brought me towards your majlis, taking me in,
showing me truly, I had a space to cry,
In the majlis of those whom my Dada grieved all his life in a way,
you showed me a hand over my head had not been lifted,
How could it be, when there’s you.
You showed me love is One
Love for one leads to the Love that’s supposed to be Loved,
It was my love for my ever loved grandfather which took me towards your majlis.
They say koi gham nahi aata agar gham e Hussain ho,
Baat hai, but you showed me what it means even before I fully started believing,
You absorbed my pain and grief in your majlis in a way unexplainable
Slowly, crying my own pain, I started wanting to cry
Not me, not him, but you.
Aaj jab mein majlis mein hun,
Ehsaas karti hun, kuch nahi,
Mein nahi, woh nahi, bus aap hain
All pain blurs out in the background,
All that’s left is, this one pain,
Maula aap, Ehsaan per Ehsaan kiay jatay hain,
Mujh per aap ne meray pursay say pehle he Ehsaan shuru kardiay thay
Sunna tha yeh majlis Dua-e-Zehra hai,
Yahan har koi ashq nahi baha sakta
I used to have one raw emotion: meri kiaa auqaat
Maybe it was my grandfather’s prayer, maybe it was your love for me,
Whatever it was, it’s all the same
Back to Maula Abbas’s majlis, where I fist wept,
Maybe because I remembered my own Chacha back then
And Bibi Sakina’s pain seemed inconsolable.
I cry to my own Maula Abbas
Slowly the references I once had for relatability blur out in the background
Be it my Dada, Baba or Chacha,
And I realize they’re part of the connection for sure,
But I am connected to you regardless.
They say you did this all for us,
And miracle by miracle, I see that happen,
And until date, Gham e Hussain awakens our souls and absorbs all other pain,
it all blurs into background
Until all that there is, is you,
And then all that there is, is your Lord, Ya Hussain
For whom you did what you did.
How Glorious must your Lord be.
